oh im sure it will be fine from that perspective, its just very dated (think 1980s) and service is very slow etc etc (but again, this is if you are comapring to dubai, compared to parts of africa, they practically sprint to help!lol). they have a good swimming pool area for the kids and its a popular place on the weekends. i am sure you will enjoy it, even just for the experience :)
Very sweet of you, thanks. Can't wait!!! Bit worried about the hotel. Staying there with my two DS (4 and 7) and DH... Not being spoilt, just want it CLEAN and hygienic...that's all.
i havent stayed there, but apparently its ok. you cant comapre to dubai hotels at all. except the four seasons.
uumm rain, well it doesnt rain much here at all, although last year they had very good rains for the region it still wasnt that much, so i wouldnt worry about it at all.
damascus is a really great place to visit, hope you have a great time :)

Went there last year in Feb and it was sunny the temperature was in high teens/llow twenties. Cool at night but hotel had underfloor heating. Lightweight jumper was fine in the day, fleece at night. One of the best places I have ever been to!
Just came back from Damascus. Cold but not too bad. Lots of walking so did not notice it. Bought gloves for less than 10 dirham in the souk. I had a long coat and boots. I loved it and think it is worth braving the cold. The last authentic place on earth. My son remarked that without the cars we could be in a city in the Middle Ages. True.
Cold. Dad came back from there yesterday. It was 10 oC during the day & 2 oC at night. In Feb it might be 15-16 oC during the day & 5-6 oC in the evening.
