Advise please... I have got my UAE ID Card and have been informed that it can be used at 'E Gates'. I was going to get an 'E Gate' Card, but if I have my ID Card, then I dont see the point in getting one. I have heard that you must 'activated' for it to work at the 'E Gate's', is this correct? If so does anyone know where to go to 'activate' it, is it easy and does it cost anything?
Thanks, hope you can help...

You can also get the Emirates ID activated as EGATE at the counter in Terminal 1 arrivals. You don't need to go to DNATA :D We did this about 2 months ago. AED 150 per card.

I got mine done earlier this year. You can go to DNATA or to the office at T3, pay the fee and it just takes a few minutes. The DNATA office is usually quiet and is open from at least 8am till late evening. (sorry don't have the number). Just remember, when you get to the Egate with your ID card, that you put it in the slot on the podium of the gate - below the pad where you used to put your egate card. This fooled me the first couple of times and the officials at the gate didn't have a clue.

Yes-I think it costs fractionally less than an e-gate card alone but you do need to pay to add the e-gate facility to it

I'm renewing my visa right now, so I'll also also need to renew my e-gate as well I think. Please let me know what you find out about being able to use the ID card instead, as that would be really convenient!
