Ramadan will start when the crescent moon is sighted. This is expected to fall around 1st August this year. In 2011 it began around the 11th August; 2010 was around 22nd August and so on. It can be predicted when Ramadan will start but it is not fixed and will depend on the sighting of the moon.

The Islamic year is shorter than the Gregorian year so the dates change in the Gregorian calendar each year. Generally, the dates move forward by about 11 days each year, give or take a bit. for example, Ramadan this year will start about 11 days earlier than it did last year. I thought Ramadan was to do with the lunar calendar, not dates as such? No, I'm so not getting this, my brain's fuddled (I got confused by the nannycam for the 20 year old).

Right back to the topic at hand! haha V-day people! I hope you are married otherwise this thread could be a contravention of the rules. EW could not be seen encouraging ilicit relations between non married parties. Hands should be kept well above topics. I don't get it - married or not, doesn't mean anything sinister is to take place on v-day than a nice innocent dinner so what are you implying? :) Bless.
