I am still confused where I am allowed to walk my dog and where not :-( I know I can not walk him on the JBR Walk, but what for example nect to the beach in Jumeira where you can nicely walk along? Or any other nice places?
Thanks.

The walk used to be the only area that dogs were allowed. There were no signs there and people could eat at any restaurants outdoor sitting area and keep their dogs on the leash next to them. I used to take my dog there and my friend would do the same. Only recently the rule has changed and it’s now illegal to walk dogs on the walk... Rules keep changing here in Dubai. Even in Discovery gardens you can only walk you dog far from the main road. If on the main road the police have the right to fine the owner and take the dog....

Our dog is odd and refuses to poop in public anyhow - she much prefers inside our house (not fair, she's getting better about going in the garden). Anyhow, we chose to live in the Lakes/Springs/Meadows (and would have chosen Arabian Ranches if we could have found somewhere there) precisely because we knew we could walk a dog here. Mind you, I'm still confused about elsewhere - are we really not allowed to take our dog down to Marina Walk or the beach thereabouts? Basically, The Walk/ JBR/ JBR Plaza is strictly no dogs. It's not actually public space, even though people may think so, and so everyone has to abide by the developer's rules. Marina Walk I'm not sure sure about. Public and private space here is so very blurred. I would imagine that if there's any public space at all, then it would be the stretch of pavement alongside the marina barrier - the one that restaurants etc aren't allowed to impinge upon - however, Emaar controls all the marina development (I think) and so, again, strictly speaking, it'd depend on their rules. The only true areas of public space are those controlled and maintained by Dubai municipality... and it's a task and a half to work out where those are!

walking around the marina is nice too - no grass though - but I would just like to comment that just because there's a building site hoarding next to a particular stretch of pavement, doesn't mean that you don't have to continue picking up! Dog-walkers with a few plastic bags peeking out of their pockets always get a big smile... those that don't should be prepared to face the consequences!

it is an interesting social/cultural commentary. I would say most westerners pick up after their dogs. Personal observation, nothing scientific about it. Other nationalities seem to take the view that I see one piece of poop so my dog can poop and I don't have to clean up. WTF?? It's a personal observation and YES there are westerners who follow the my dog's poop doesn't stink (or stick for that matter) so I don't have to clean up after it. Clean up after your dog and you will have few to no problems = my dog weighs 50 lbs and her poop not much less (or so it seems) but using the inside out plastic bag pick up has resulted in exactly zero complaints or even dirty looks

We live in JBR and take our dog for a walk here. He is very small though (miniature Yorkshire terrier) As long as you pick up after them. no one has complained
