Where can I find attractive wide-fitting shoes?

My feet are average size but broad across the toes, so I really struggle to find shoes anywhere which fit comfortably and look halfway decent. I don't want to live my life in trainers and the doctor says I need far more arch support than flipflops provide. If you know where to find my ideal shoes, please let me know. I'm desperate!!!

Anytime I have driven past on the way to Al Ain I can see the way in but it seems like to come back you have to head towards Al Ain for quite a way before you can u-turn and come back. Is that correct or is there another back road out that is not visible from the highway? It's 4.5 kms towards Al Ain to get back again, so 9kms out of the way. It's not too bad if you're expecting it. They used to have a little 'illegal' underpass that was NARROW and fun but it's blocked off now. You are right - it is only 9km so I should just do it - especially if the illegal U turn is once again open as per emejotas post - thanks both of you

for flip flops, consider men's. I have been able to find some basic brown and black styles to fit my wide feet.

I went last week to the outlet mall, and the "illegal" underpass is open again ;;)) good luck finding your shoes. I second payless. no leather shoes, though, but worth the visit. they are on sale now. I got a pair of boots at 59 AED (they were 175 before)

If you have family in the UK check out http://www.gluvfootwear.co.uk they only deliver to UK but I always order just before family are coming over or just before I arrive back on a visit. The most comfortable shoes ever.

i only know one way:) and it is long the way down the road, get on the overpass bridge and down back to Dubai direction... Thanks - that is what I suspected - which has put me of going there before now. Must try and stop there the next time I go to Al Ain as at least I will be heading in the same direction - although I never manage to because I am always late and in a tearing hurry when I go there.

Np Simpleasebc, here is the map http://www.dubaioutletmall.com/DubaiOutletMallDirections.pdf ...u can't really miss it, it has a huge white dome on top, it is visible approaching from the road...coming from Dubai direction, it will be on your right side, right after the last interchange(u pass underneath, going straight)

for basic, but wide shoes you can go to Payless shoes at Mirdif City Centar.Shoes are marked with W....all the ladies shoes they have in "normal" size they sell in "wide" too.And price is good. This is thier web site.. http://www.payless.com/store/ mb u could order from states, after u find your right size here in Dubai store.Mind you, their choice is limited, comparing to the website.I did find couple nice snadals there. And easy slip on tennis shoes for my DS. edited by Goose on 20/01/2011

Depending on your budget, have you tried Salvatore Ferragamo - all the styles here are usually in the wide fitting. Many of the styles are also a bit granny but they do have some lovely ones too. If you go to outlet mall, the big shop in the middle usually has quite a large selection and they are pretty reasonable. Some of my favourite shoes are Ferragamo......
