we have a big 3 bed townhouse, new, full kitchen with dishwasher etc, outside maids - AED115,000. You should be able to find something good for AED120,000. Everything we looked at under 100,000 was pretty old, dirty or directly under the flight path.

How much is it, roughly, for a 3-bed villa plus maids room these days in Mirdif ? Would you be able to find a villa in the AED 90,000 - 120,000 price range ?

I live in Shorooq and absolutely love it here! Your kids can play in the common areas or you can drive them a couple of minutes to Uptown Park. And of course there's Mushrif Park for the weekends.

I think your husband is right, it will take a few years for that to happen and Int City was ok to start with (my DH lived there before we were married) It suits us for now because if we live here cheaply I can stay at home with the baby.. I would be surprised if it ever fills up, there's so many buildings. There's a swimming pool in Mushriff park by the way.

the unit i liked in B is not facing the street. yes noticed there is no courtyard but didnt think a courtyard will make a difference for us because it was so small and my kids are 3 and 5 yr.olds would be risky to have them play there. was thinking that if we stay there, well just have to drive to the park on wkends for play. on the day, they will have been able to play in school and at home anyway. hmm... the finish inside the flats are ok. but workers buses? and international city? I hope not. Though my husband says it will take quite a few more years for these to happen as he thinks it will take a long time for ghoroob to fill up. By that time we will have gone somewhere else. what do you think?

The A buildings seem to be built around a courtyard.. so if you had an apartment that overlooked the courtyard you could have your children play down there reasonably safely as long as they have some road sense, I think the A buildings are bigger so more neighbours, the 1 beds in the B buildings are bigger.. I think that's it. The finishes in the buildings are the same, same kitchen fittings, bathrooms etc. There are only B buildings on the stretch that runs alongside Algeria St, so could be noisy if your on that side.. but then you'll get sun on your balcony - we're on the other side facing into the compound and we get no sun on the balcony at all. There are lots of apartments rented to the Welcare group (hospital staff) so there are 'worker' buses coming into the area... I'm sure other companies will follow cause the place is so cheap! could turn into another International City one day.

I live in Ghoroob, there are no common areas yet - no idea when they will do the landscaping or even what is planned. There are plenty of 2 beds available, they have 2 types of building A and B. The children here seem to play in the carparks and in the street (with a few disinterested maids trailing after them) In Shorooq it looked like they had started on the playgrounds and landscaping in the apartment section last October so that may be finished by now. YOu can walk to Uptown from Shorooq and to City Centre from Ghoroob. There's a park with a nice playground nr the pink mosque in 26b street and Mushriff park opp Arabian Centre. hi pentel. whats the diff bet A and B? which is better and why? I saw and somehow already liked 12B. Visited shorooq and the playgrounds are not yet done. My husband said he saw a playground in building 2 there. edited by mitzi2010 on 17/01/2011 Thanks to everyone for all the comments. edited by mitzi2010 on 17/01/2011

Agree that best thing to do is drive around - not always easy but just get yourself lost and look for 'to rent' signs and phone them. Quite often the property will be open and you may be told just to go in and have a look around, do this as much as you can as it will give you a great comparison on what is available. As for parks, we use the park next to Uptown School most of the time (walking distance for us) and also the small park at the Pink Mall. Mushrif Park is pretty close and another favourite of ours is Creekside Park but that's a wee bit further!

What is best in Mirdif is to drive around and phone the numbers on the "for rent" sings that are on the villas. Stay in the area for a while to get to hear the plane noise as some areas are worse than others. There are two parks in Mirdif and then there is Mushrif park just outside. We use all 3.
