So when I took my baby to the doc when he was 9 months for a checkup, he was 7.6 kg (9th percentile). Now he is 11 months and when I weigh him he is around 8.2 kg. I'm not sure what percentile he is now. He was sick for a week and was eating very little, but now he's back on 3 good meals and 2 snacks. I also breastfeed 6x per 24 hour period. I'm not sure what else I can do to get him to gain weight. He's a very active baby, seems very content. He's not sleeping well at night another issue. My main concern is his weight. My mother in law sometimes forces him to eat more, I know he's full cause he spits the food out but MIL keeps adding more to his mouth. Sometimes he pukes. She even suggested I give him multi vitamin drops. Should I take him to the doc now for another checkup? I'm not sure what the doc will do cause he was underweight at 6 months and again at 9 months and all he told me was to reduce breastfeeding and give him more food. His next appt is in another month, should I just wait? I don't know what to do, I try to give him a variety of food, I also add more carbs to his diet. Any advice is appreciated.

My son was always underweight until his 3 year check-up, he was finally more average. (If that makes sense.) Anyway, as long as they eat and are healthy, thats all that really matters. My son is just a tall and skinny kid like his Dad.

Thank you, I feel so much better now. He is perky and happy and that's what matters. I'm taking control of the situation with my MIL. I told her nicely from now on I'll do the feeding lol. I don't think she took it too well. Thanks hello.kitty for the tip, cooking with butter. I shall do that from now on. I was mainly using extra virgin olive oil. I just have to except that my son is just thin.

if he's generally perky and happy, just let him get on with it. Some people (and this includes children and babies!) are just slimmer than others. Stop your MiL from force-feeding him straight away though... if ever there's a way to make him stop finding eating a fun activity, it's that. Serves no purpose whatsoever if he's already full and spitting it out either. If he's eating a balanced, healthy diet, there should be no need for multi-vitamins. You're also breastfeeding, which is really good - and a good number of times too. My son had reduced down to 2 feeds in 24h by 11 months! You could try giving higher-calorie foods, if you wanted too - avocado, fish, lamb, pulses, cheese, cream, pasta, etc... and cook with butter! I have a friend whose toddler is on the 2nd percentile. He's just the same as any of the others his age in terms of development and good health, he's just diddy.

Hi hun, his weight gain seems fine between 9-11 months. Weight gain really slows down at this age. My DS only added 0.5 kgs from 10 months to 14 months
