Ladies, please i need to know if its normal or not.
My baby is 2 month now, since birth she slept perfectly even without swaddling, after 1 month started waking herself up with hands, so i started swaddle her, it helped a bit.
Now after feeds she stays awake for some time, when she`s becoming sleepy i offer breast, she`d take for few min & drop, as not hungry, so if i`ll not walk her for good half hour she`ll not sleep at all. It is killing my hands & back.
Never the less she`ll fall asleep, i`ll put her in bed, after 40 min she`ll wake up & i have to walk her again. This will go on until next feed. Sometimes its not even 40 min , just 5 or 10.
Is it something i have to worry about & show her to doctor? Every day is like a nightmare & every night is a killer, i`m afraid i`ll go crazy soon :(

I highly recommend a read through this article, I wish I had found it sooner! For you personally I would suggest a swing, it worked great for us - she will feel like she is still being held and swung. I just sold mine but it was great, the Graco Lovin Hug swing from Babyshop. There 3 parts to it: http://www.troublesometots.com/what-you-need-to-know-about-sleeping-through-the-night-part-i/

Hi! Same problem here but I somehow managed.... She slept great initially, and I was swaddling her till she was 6 weeks old, and than stopped as she would fight her arms out and woke herself up. Than her sleep problems started.... She now sleeps 40-60 minutes at the time during the day, which is one sleep cycle, and wakes up without knowing how to fall asleep again. We had so many difficult days. She got used to sleep on the breast and got such a strong association that breast=sleep. Nights are good, she is sleeping 7 hours solid, with one short feed around 4-5 am and continues till 7am, but days... Nightmare. And if she skips one of her catnaps in the afternoon, it takes us hours to settle her to sleep if she is overtired. i read so many books, and i found very useful No cry sleep solution, used few advices and we are getting better now. I decided I will not force her to sleep 2-3 hours as a nap, as long as she has 4x 1 hour naps during the day and a solid nigh sleep, we are good. She even learned how to fall asleep on her own in the past few days (she is 10 weeks old), without crying it out. What I am surprised is that she manages to consolidate her sleep cycles in the night (we co-sleep, but we are not sharing the bed so i know she is waking up periodically and is able to put herself to sleep within minutes), but is unable to do that during the day unless I "help" her with breastfeeding of she is in the stroller and I keep walking for hours. I didn't use sling yet, even though I have one, and if I have to use it so she can sleep, I will. I ordered sleeping bag which is a light swaddle and she can keep arms out, it is called puckababy mini, and I can wait to get it to see if it will help during the day. Now she falls asleep between 8and 10 pm, and we are up at 7:30 am with one short feeding at night. I am making sure I put her to sleep on the first sigh of tiredness, and I am still offering her breast to fall asleep, but I am making sure that I take the breast out when she is drowsy but now asleep and put her in the bed or in the stroller if i plan to go out with her. I hope you will manage her sleep soon... Good luck!

What about not to swaddle her at all? and see what she will do maybe get tired and sleep ;) . Regarding the ring sling there is some links with instructions: http://www.slingbabies.co.nz/Site/In...dle_Carry.ashx http://site.peppermint.com/instructions/kangaroocare_ringsling.pdf http://zolowear.com/WearingTroubleshooting.aspx http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O6U4xI_yZZE I have never seen that sb swaddle baby in the sling. I don't think so as sling by it self should be tight around baby. Ach from my experience it take time to learn how to wear sling, I don't know which type you order but if its woven try to wash it with little bit fabric softener and iron. For us at the beginning it was hard to tighten it but now we got little more practice and its ok, also i used to put our sling on the sofa and sit on it to make it softer :D. Good luck . hopefully you will get some sleep soon.

Mine baby is 2,5 months old. Some days he will sleep all day long with wake up for feeding, some days will stay awake most of the day and wants to hold him carry. And same thing i offer breast and he is getting nervous as he is not hungry and want other "entertainment".I have sling while i put him in and go for walk he fall asleep after few minutes.I would recommend you maybe Moby Wrap, as i heard is easier to wear than woven sling( I have woven and took while to learn how to tighten it properly). I heard also that there is thing which might work like :white noises, or try to remove some part of clothes like socks or cap,try not to swaddle maybe... .In my opinion its growing sprut and soon everything should settle soon. Also me i dream to sleep for longer than few hours :). Wishing all best. edited by evelyn2000 on 19/01/2013 edited by evelyn2000 on 19/01/2013 Thank you evelyn, well now i`m bit relaxed. Ordered ring sling, should arrive in few days, hope she`ll fall asleep in it, coz nothing else is working, walk around the block in stroller on small bumps is not making her sleepy :) I`m trying not to swaddle her in the morning, but she`ll keep on moving & hands everywhere. I wonder should i swaddle her in sling?

babies and their sleep patterns!! :) you don't need to see doctor for this. every baby go through different phases of sleep techniques. mine used to loved swaddling for 15 days, then only feed, then came rocking, at 7 months he wanted me to put him in my lap and keep humming and rocking, then came swaying, now at 9 months its only humming and feed :) my dh bought a recliner for me so that i can sit and rock him there (as my baby was large) then if needed i can sleep there only.it helped for few days only.he wanted me to walk too but i didn't caved into that. as op suggested try getting a automated swing. keep her there and hold her hand. now she is progressing into the age where she is more aware of you. try keeping this up for few nights then she'll get in the pattern. ps:also babies go through growth spurt where they'll change their behavoiur for some time :( edited by angel joy on 19/01/2013 Well its good you`ve found what works for you & baby, mine seems ok only in my arms, but before she`ll fall asleep she`ll fight with me trying not to be swaddled, then give up & sleep. She manages to wake herself up even in swaddling blanket with hands & feet. For 2 hours sleep i need to walk her at least 3 times, i just hope it`ll change :( I look like zombi nowadays :(

Hi Stasya, Have you tried a swing? or a baby hammock? that helped with my daughter a lot. And co-sleeping at night. Otherwise she wouldn't have slept more then 10 mins from day 1. Yep, she doesnt like it, she`ll start crying soon if she feels sleepy, only hands & only walking, no fitball, no rocking chair :( At night we sleep together. Heh... Will see if sling will help. But thanks :)
