Hi Layool, Sorry to hear that. Do you give any liquids after the rice cereal? Perhaps you can change to pureed fruits and veges instead? DD is also 6 months and her solids are only for lunch. She also on b/milk but I give formula for her dream feed. How long are your LO's naps in the day? A midwife told me the myth that if a bub sleeps little in the day, she'll sleep longer at night. I used to do that and DD was a nightmare during the night. Now she her naps are twice in the day, each time about 2hrs each. With regards to gas, do you still burp your LO? As I still do. Perhaps, change your routine for bedtime. Feed LO just about bedtime, then have a warm bath. Massage with bedtime oil, which contains lavender which is very soothing n calming, and by the time you're done, LO may be so ready for sleep. Include dream feed as well? Maybe you still need to swaddle? I know of a mom who swaddles her LO til he is 8 months... Good luck!! S

I feel for you because I am exactly in the same situation. DS is 6,5 months and wakes up so mant times at nights. I just try to keep positive and remind myself that this is temporary. You can also read http://www.askdrsears.com/html/7/t070300.asp

We tried solids at dinner time start and then lunch time and neither worked well for DS's tummy... he was the same - waking quite often during the night with wind. I then changed it completely and started him on solids in the morning for breakfast instead - that way he had the whole day to get rid of the wind before bed time and gradually increased qty and then introduced lunch about 2 weeks later, then dinner about 3 weeks later. For dinner now I give him veggies and carb - so some pasta as it helps to keep him fuller for longer. At lunch time it is protien (turkey, chicken, beef, lamb - any of these) with veggies. Breakfast is still the cereal mixed with puree'd fruit. His wind is getting better as he is getting older. but there are still some foods such as spinich I still can not give him (9 mths old) as it is too harsh on his belly. We went and saw Cecile de Scally too as DS was a terrible sleeper. She has helped soooooooooooooooo much - worth every penny if you would like to go talk to someone face to face... she's your lady!

I recently went to see Cecile de Scally (recommended on here) with my 5 month old DD as she was waking so often in the night. She is still not sleeping through, but she is sooo much better and the main change has been that she now settles herself to sleep in her cot before every nap and at night time, while previously I had either been feeding her to sleep or pushing her in her pram. She now has proper naps during the day time and is much happier, she goes to bed happy and when she does wake in the night it's for a quick 10 minute feed and then back in her cot.

By six months mine were both on solids (kind of - still very soft foods) Does he sleep during the day? Perhaps he isn't settling very well because of the timing of a nap. I remember around this age mine were a bit out of routine and its difficult to find out the cause. Try different things such as varying his meals to see what he likes. The midwife told me she thought DS wasn't sleeping through because he was hungry, I upped his portions a little and this helped. Maybe his sleep pattern isn't suiting him, maybe keep him awake a little longer if you can. Unfortunately all kids are different and its a case of testing out different routines to see what works. Good luck!
