Hi, if you're giving him the milk when he wakes, you could try gradually pushing it out. i.e night 1, feed him when he wakes (3:30am for example) then the nxt night don't go in till 3:45am. After a couple of nights push it to 4am and keep doing that by 15mins every few days. It worked for us when we we're trying to drop night feeds.
I've never dream-fed and think that it can become more the mum's habit than the baby's need.
Anyhow, the early morning wake-up... yes it's a pain, but if bubs is thirsty, then he's thirsty. I too gave DS a sippy cup of water in his cot and that saw him good.
Sorry i've not been on this for a while, thanks for all the replies.
I didn't dream feed him and he's almost 10months old and I dont think he needs it, I used to and then he stopped wanting it and went through a few nights then got sick and then the whole thing went out the window.
He has a feed before bed about 6.30pm which he often doesn't finish as passes out (he has a 2 1/2 year old sister who is tiring him out) so i go back in after about 10mins and get him to finish this off. Ive starting dream feeding him lately and occasionally he goes through until 6am but very rarely.
I will try water tonight thanks fairycakemum.
Im just so tired now and just so fed up with the screaming, he wakes up in the morning screaming too !!!!
my one done this instead of a bottle i just gave her water in a sippy cup ...so she knew she wouldnt get her milk till the morning ..she d have some water then back to sleep.
Try putting your lo to bed at a different time.
Having the same probs with mine. She used to go down at 8.30 or 9 pm and give me till 5 am. But now is up multiple times and wont sleep until fed. Hope she grows out of it. No teeth yet either.
Yes I suppose it has, I thought it might be separation anxiety too as he just goes ballistic but when I go in he doesn't seem to calm down....unless I feed him. No signs of anymore teeth yet.
Did it start just recently? There is a developmental growth spurt at this age, & separation anxiety (can cause bad dreams) + teething. DS was a good sleeper until it started at 8.5 months, & it lasted for a whole month until it finally settled & he went back to normal.
So my 9 month old DD keeps waking up between 3-5am every morning screaming, I tried to cry him out for a week, I tried ignoring him, Ive tried different sleep pods, suits to see if hes too hot or too cold, but he just goes back to sleep then wakes up every half and hour screaming until I go in and feed him, even if I dont feed him he does it until 7am !!! I've now given in and go and feed him, he drinks 120ml, then goes back to sleep no probs....well a little widge but nothing. I have a toddler who he had woken on numerous occasions which is also an issue.
I cant get back to sleep after this wake though so am feeling very knackered but just dont know what to do, can anyone help please ??
