Hi ALL,
I am 22 weeks pregnant now. I would like to know some information about the following doctors and their respective hopitals, for my upcoming delivery in late April 2012.
Kindly do give me your recommendations with what you know/ heard of these doctors. Also please comment on the hospitals these doctors are associated with, based on recent experiences.

The docs and their hospitals:

1. Dr Janaki (WellCare hospital)
2. Dr Rajalakshmi (American hospital)
3. Dr Shiva (Medcare hospital SAFA)

Since I am new to Dubai, your opinions and guidance will help me a great deal. Thanks in advance!

Hi Dr Rosalie Sant at Primavera Clinic at Dubai Healthcare City is great, would recommend her. I had a complicated pregnancy (preeclampsia & placenta abruption) and had an emergency c-section and Dr Rosalie was fabulous.

I've had 3 kids in under 5 years, and I wouldn't change my doctor ( dr Raoufi at Arya Clinic in Jumeira 1) for anything in the world! Not only is she extremely capable and professional, she's also the sweetest ever! She takes the time to explain anything you need and gives you advice but will do what you prefer. The best part, she gives patients her phone number and is accessible round the clock! That is the best Thing any doc can do for me!

Am a Medcare patient: with Dr.Luthra and even though I am pushing for c-section, she is still **** bent to go natural !! Am scared coz of my double slipped disc, herniated disc and i know my pain threhold is next to zero..... Dr. Rajul Matkar at Life Medical Center, JLT is very good. She is a consultant and has experience for over 23 years. Maybe you can visit her and seek her advice. www.lifemedicalcenterjlt.com 2 posts for this medical centre. Do you work there? LOL!! wish I was working for Medcare would have got discounts then.....

Hi Gilly, I've been seeing Dr Samah for a couple of years and totally agree. You really feel like she is on your side. Can I ask if you had a natural delivery or a C-section? Just from talking to friends it seems Medcare hospital does a lot of C-sections... Is Dr Samah pro-natural delivery?

Hi gilly I had my first appointment with dr samah. As this is my first I have nothing to compare her too? I know you said good things about her, I just need some reassurance she is the one I should go with x

Hi ladies. I have just had my miracle baby boy after 7 miscarriages and 19 years of trying!!! We are just sooo thrilled. We have tired 6 gynae's here in the UAE between Abu Dhabi and Dubai. I found the most amazing gynae in Medcare Clinic on Jumeriah Beach Road called Dr Samah - she is just fantastic. She has been most attentative and caring. I felt like a woman, a pregnant woman! She cared....it wasn't like some docs where they just see their salary walking in the door not an actual patient! We delivered at Medcare Hospital in Al Safa. Everything was great....do try her!! Good luck ladies! Gill

Thanks ladies!! I have read such lovely stories about Dr Janaki on various blogs as well,... but i have received feedback that Wellcare sometimes gets too busy.. I will take a look at City Hospital and Get Well also... A neighbour recently suggested that if my insurance covers American Hospital, I should go there with Dr.Raj.., I am due for my next appt in a couple of weeks now... Shall I opt for this? edited by KanakaB on 05/01/2012 edited by KanakaB on 05/01/2012

I would strongly recommend Dr. Janaki (Welcare) and Dr. Raj (American Hospital)... both these lovely doctors are experienced, pro-natural delivery and very approachable and open to discussions... I'm 36 weeks pregnant and I had decided on Dr. Janaki early on in my pregnancy simply because my insurance didn't cover American Hospital... I have no personal experience with Dr. Raj but have heard many wonderful stories about her via this forum and also from friends who have delivered with her... With Dr. Janaki I can give you more personal feedback as I've been consulting her since June 2011... she's extremely professional, quite busy (as she's head of the department there), very responsive via emails (quite rare for doctors here! IMHO)... she's not the type to molly-coddle you and is quite blunt and straightforward... but I really appreciate that about her! Very practical, very approachable and extremely knowledgeable... The hospital also (Welcare) is quite good... nursing care is very good (I've been admitted there on previous occasions and always had a good experience)... most of the nursing staff are indian / philipino or then South African... If you would prefer more hand-holding, mommy-ing experience with your gynae then I suggest heading for Dr. Raj who I've heard is a lot more geared to that approach! :) All the best... and congratulations on your bump! :)
