Today i went to Dr Sawsan at Cure for the first time to get my anatomy scan at 20 weeks. I used to go to Al Noor but for some reasons i decided to change. Anyway, i was surprised when she told me she does not do anatomy scans and i should go to Corniche if i want one.
I know a friend who recommends a visiting Dr in Dubai who specializes in fetal genetics and who does the scan thoroughly (takes more than half an hour). The thing is that she wont be in the country till i'm 23 weeks. Can the scan be postponed till 23 weeks? if not, can i be seen easily at corniche during this week?

I think it's better to see Dr. George Michaelidis at American Hospital (Dubai). He is very good, very nice and will not upset you for nothing. He's specialized in prenatal diagnosis.

She referred me to the Fetal Medicine and Genetic Center in Dubai. She will give u a referral paper before the exam is due so u can schedual an appointment. BTW, they don't take any insurances, u'll have to pay 800 dirhams. Ask them if they have the reimbursment form of ur company so u'll take the form with u if they don't.

The anomaly scan is to check all the major organs of the baby so should be quite detailed wherever you go, I remember mine took 45 mins and included checking the skeletal frame and the blood flow through kidneys/liver/heart. I think it's recommended to be performed between 20-24 weeks for the best views. Corniche in Abu Dhabi? best idea is to call them and if you tell them how many weeks you are and what scan you want, they should fit you in. good luck edited by pentel on 22/01/2011
