Hi All, I understand from most reviews that Dr. Elsa has performed more C-section births than natural births. Or am I wrong ??? Because I really want a natural birth ... I already feel scared of C-section ! She is very pro natural birth. For memory she has one of the lowest % rates of c-sections for an Obst across the UAE well... thats what I heard anyway :) I have a friend wanting to have elective c-section and Dr Elsa is trying to convince her other wise. She will only give a c-section if utter emergency. That would be me :D. I was adamant I wanted a natural birth first time round and for various reasons it wasn't the experience I hoped for, so I'm seriously considering an elective this time round but Elsa has told me it'd be against her professional opinion as I have no clinical indications for needing one. I just saw a consultant here in the UK and mentioned this, and she was very impressed as she'd heard Dubai was full of chop-happy obstetricians.

I already feel scared of C-section ! There could be valid reasons why an Ob has high c-section rates. Take myself for example, I am on my third pregnancy and will need a c-section. I asked around a lot and discovered that Dr Elsa is very good at c-sections (good stitching and follow up scar mgt etc) and so that is one of the main reasons why I opted to go with her. If a Dr has a good reputation for something, patients will always seek them out.

Love, love, love Dr Elsa! Sorry to hear some of you are having trouble getting appts with her. How easy/hard is it to get an appt with her for a second pregnancy? By this I mean, if she delivered your first baby, do you get priority to get an appt with her for your second pregnancy? Reason I ask is because in Australia, with some Ob/Gyn's, you do. Thanks! Yes if you are already a patient of hers you can let reception know and they will try booking you in earlier :) 2nd what Shelly says about Dr Elsa. Loved her for the birth of my first son and i'm back with her this time around.

I'm having my second baby with Dr. Elsa in November and can say for sure that there isn't a problem getting an appt if you're an existing patient of hers. Also, I highly recommend her as do so many people if you do a quick search of past posts. Naaz, the only extra charges outside the package price I had from my first delivery (c section) was the food my husband ordered and maybe a few hundred dirhams for pain meds and vitamins. If you have a natural birth and want an epidural that is extra, I think.

Hi Shellly, For second pregnancy it would be easy peasy. The "hold up" is just for new patients (well, that's how it works in OZ at least....):)

Thnx a ton for ur inputs, people !!! Can anyone please share with me the actual cost that was incurred for ur delivery at the city hospital - normal / C-section ??? I know that the city hospital has maternity packages - normal delivery starts at 11,000 Aed and C-section starts at 22,000 Aed ... I have an insurance card that covers only 80% of the total cost and I will have to bear the remaining 20% .... so it works out a little expensive for me inspite of my insurance cover given the fact that city hospital is quite expensive. So, ladies who have delivered there, please let me know that total cost of the delivery ... it will helpful for me and my husband to plan financially.

Elsa rocks!!!! I wanted to deliver on hands and knees and she agreed to without fuss. And i did deliver on hands and knees. :) I had said I dont want any chemicals and that also I got. I am terrified of the canula and of stitches and she dint give me either. At 4am in the morning she actually remembered that I dint want the umblical cord to be cut unti it stopped pulsating and she stopped the nurse from cutting the cord till then. She did not let the baby be taken away from me and when I wouldnt turn she insisted that i turn onto my back and hold the baby in all its much and glory! I love her!!

Thanks, Nix and Sparkly. My appointment with Dr.Elsa was booked 3 months back when I was planning to get my tests done for not being able to conceive. Coincidentally, just 3 days before the appointment date, I got to know that I am pregnant !!! It all seemed like God's plan for me :)

Naazdxb, Congratulations to you! I would love to know how you got in to see Dr Elsa so soon? Would love to see her but could not get in until late November when I called about a month ago.

Hi nix.dubai. I have just managed to get an appt with Dr Elsa as well. I have been waiting for 3 months though and they have just called me back now. I will be 26 weeks by the time I actually see her in September and I am pregnant with twins. I believe if you call now that she isn't taking patients until December, but not 100% sure if this info is correct.

I had Dr Elsa for my second pregnancy and thought she was the best. Perfect in every way. She listened, explained, cared and gave me the birth experience I always wanted. She was very supportive and pro VBAC (even when I felt otherwise at times) she guided me into making the choices she knew I wanted and that she knew was safe. She never once took the easy way out and said, "ok, let's do another C section" and for that alone, I'm am so greatful. She really was wonderful and I know for sure that if I were to have another. She would be on top of my list.

I loved Dr Elsa. She is very happy for you to deliver naturally. I've never heard anything bad about her. Congratulations on your baby! edited by guinness on 13/08/2011

Hi All, I am extremely happy to tell you that am pregnant with my first child which I found out only last week. I consulted Dr. Elsa at the city hospital and after scan she said that I am 6 weeks pregnant. She seemed to be a good doctor. However, since this is my first pregnancy, I would like to know your experiences with Dr.Elsa - good or bad, if any. Does she specialize in C - section deliveries only? Your inputs in this regard will be of great help to me. Also, has anyone heard of Dr. Insaf (Egyptian) at the Belhoul speciality hospital at Hor Al Ans ? Any inputs on her or the hospital ? Regards, Naaz
