My DD wouldnt take the aptamil 2 at 6 months (also sick) so continued with the one for a few more weeks then started introducing it once a day etc and now thats whats she on. Midwife i spoke to said there is actually no need to change onto a number 2 (contains more corn syrup which fills them up) and actually better to keep on a numer 1 and give more of.
If she's fine with stage one & taking enough milk for her age you dont need to switch. My DS was suffering from reflux & we introduced Aptamil 2 at 7.5 months mixed with his Aptamil AR formula & he was fine with it. At 12 months when we switched to Aptamil 3 he was sicky at 1st so we had to mix it with Aptamil 2 then we started to reduce the amount of it slowly until he was taking Aptamil 3 only.
Im pretty sure its the Aptimil to as it seems to be about half an hour after she feeds and its purely milk. Il just go back to the aptimil 1 for a few more weeks. Didnt know if there was a particular reason to move to the 2 so I did it just incase! Thanks for the advice both of you
On the box of the aptimil 2 it says from 6 months. My daughter has just turned 6 months so Ive just started giving it to her. Its made her quite sicky and she doesnt seem to be taking it as well as the aptimil 1. Is this normal and her body just getting used to it?
hey Sarah! Did it happen just once? You can always wait a few more weeks-which is what I did. Also-beware, there is a nasty stomach bug going around. My friends 10 month old just had it and he was puking all over the place. Just make sure its deffo from the aptamil 2.
There's a chance that it's richer than the Aptimil 1 and the taste will be different.
You can carry on giving her Aptimil 1 for a while, she'll come to no harm and you may find she tolerates the next one better in a few weeks. I wouldn't lose any sleep over it to be honest.
