Just read your comments and thought I can help with good baby products. I went to a shop in Jumeirah and found they had organic products from Australia specially for babies. I use all of them and they have a lovely massage oil which is almond oil which I use daily and every change. Also, I use cloth diapers which I bought here in Dubai from a lady who has heaps of different types and have never had any issue about rashes, burns etc. because they don't give that to the baby like a disposable I would never use vaseline as full of petrochemicals.

Rapeseed is now known as canola. You can buy canola oil in any grocery shop. I wonder if you put oil on a babes skin would it not make them prone to sunburn/tanning? Plain old vaseline on the bottom it a fab moisture seal, and not expensive. I didn't know it was called canola. In Waitrose it was still called Rapeseed - if it wasn't I'd have probably picked up the Grapeseed. I don't think it would be an issue with sunburn as it was only ever put on the torso and legs which were covered by a babygro. Plus I tended to only put it on at night before bed.

Pigeon hair & body wash (union coop) for shampoo, Dove sensitive bar soap, Bioderma Atoderm body lotion, Zincast (C4) barrier cream. Occasionally we have to use Desitin (USA) for nappy rash. Johnson's UVA/UVB SPF 50 sunblock for children (union coop). Also use Himalaya Herbals antiseptic cream for minor skin cuts, relieve itchiness.

First couple of months no soap. Just a bit of bicarbonate of soda (stuff you use in baking...) in the bathwater. Makes the skin very soft, moisturised. My midwife told me about it and it was great. Almond oil for moisturizing if needed (not sure about the cost of that here). Then the Weleda calendula baby range. They get very high 'ratings' for baby friendliness in terms of no nasty products, chemicals etc. Not cheap e.g the baby wash is about 70 dirhams but lasts a really long time so in the long run it's not so bad.

olive oil is the best thing, even as a barrier. no soap needed for the first few months either, we only started once they were mobile and eating solids

Found it in waitrose. (Have to admit that I am now now sure if the midwife said rapeseed or grapeseed but did google it and found it to be recommended by a range of sites/people.)

Olive oil, if you dont mind the smell, is a very good moisturizer for baby skin, cheap and always available. I tend to use white soap made of olive oil (like alepo soap). Papaye

We use Mustela (a combination of stelatopia and the regular stuff because my daughter has really dry skin). Works great and is not as expensive as it first looks because it lasts for ages. The baby wash we got lasted for about 4 months of everyday baths and is about AED 60. The shampoo is still going strong, about a third left, and its been 7 months of alternate day washes. Again more or less the same price. We've used about 2 tubes/bottles of moisturizer in the same time - same price (stelatopia is 75). So that should give you an idea. Also tried the Bioderma ABC range. The wash is quite nice though I find the smell a bit strong (its meant to be natural). I got extra virgin coconut oil from Organics in Dubai Mall. ETA: Also for baby wipes, though I don't use it much, we have the Sebamed ones. Get a 2 or 3 pack deal in Union Coop and Lulu. For diapers we went with Huggies organic for when she was tiny and then Pampers Premium. Only one rash episode (knocks wood) when we used regular pampers for a few days. That doesn't seem to agree with her. Now we've switched to huggies regular because i find the absorbency better and there's no leaks. For diaper rash, Bepanthen cleared it right up. Now I just put some on preemptively when she has any redness. We use Sudocreme for barrier when she started sleeping longer.
