My 8mnth old has baby swim tomorrow which he loves - he's had a runny nose this evening (clear) when/how do I decide whether to skip the session?

oops sorry TDB, yeah fever after vaccine no biggie. I do get annoyed with viral snot and fevers at baby playgroups/classes just because its so horrible when the little ones are sick.

I actually asked the Dr last time we went for a visit, and the Dr said as long there's no fever and the baby is in good spirits it's fine to go in the pool. It's true that the water is a bit cold, I take DD on Friday mornings at 8:30 and last week in particular when the outside temp was 23C or something it felt a bit chilly. She didn't seem to mind though...

I was assuming you meant to avoid to protect other kids, I wouldnt avoid swimming for the sake of your own baby, but if you are in a class with other babies, their mums might not be thrilled about you bringing a snotty kid. :) TDB, I would be one of those not thrilled mums if I knew one of the other babies had a fever, the way they suck on toys etc. You might want to keep that on the down low.

I only avoid the pool with my children if their noses are running green (yuck!) and that's more for the benefit of other pool users than for them.

I would let him go swimming if it's just a runny nose.
