I would avoid using bio oil - it's made from a by product of petrol. It's also said to cause premature aging and even carcinogenic. It also contains rosemary oil which should be avoided in pregnancy. I have heard lots of good stuff about shea butter but not tried it myself.

Mustela, although I started seeing some results only after using Bio Oil. Mustela is a bit expansive as well and I've also discovered that the glass container with the cream is more expansive than the plastic one (same weight, the only difference is the container).

That's right Nimonemo...there is no scientific evidence that prooves any lotion will prevent stretch marks. The best they do is keep the skin supple and give it a fighting chance. You might as well buy fragrance free, cheap-as-chips E45 and slather that on. :) Your best bet is to eat a healthy diet to keep your skin in good shape, grow a healthy baby and reduce your chances of rapid or excessive weight gain. Gaining too much weight, gaining weight too quickly and genetics are the causes of stretch marks. Of course the flip side is that for many women, the stretch marks fade away...I have three full term babies and no visible stretch marks. As any of my friends can attest, I was MASSIVE with my third baby!! lol. I had a few stretch marks at the side of my belly when she was born. I can't even find them today, two yrs later. Haven't seen them for a long time actually...lol. edited by Green-ish on 01/12/2011

I also hate cocoa butter's smell. I bought pregnacare cream in Boots- is in the pricey side, but it working fine so far. I have recently read in Babycenter that there is not scientifically proved that you will avoid stretch marks with special lotions - what you should do is to moisturise your skin. I use a combination of pregnacare for bump and breasts and the of the body I use Dove for dry skin.
