38 weeks....and doc says DD weighs about 3.2 kg now. I was quite surprised, 'coz Im a small person (5'1 tall), and hadn't gained much weight in my pregnancy. I know that a weight range btw 3.2-4.6 kg is considered normal. But just wanted to hear about other experiences of delivering bigger babies normally. (Yes, I am hoping for a normal delivery, and the weight issue is bothering me slightly.) Hopefully, all will turn out good :)

I have to chuckle at the baby weight estimations... it's a bit like the "guess the number of sweets in a jar" game at fairs and seemingly just as accurate! So many of my friends who've given birth here have been told that their babies were going to be huge and more often than not, the estimates were up to a kilo off. In the UK they don't even bother... I mean, bubs has got to come out somehow, and will come out somehow, so what's the point in speculating?! I had DD who was 3.6kg and DS at 3.92, both delivered naturally - DD with gas'n'air and DS with, er, Panadol. You'll be fine.

They do tend to get the weight estimate wrong alot! I was told through out my pregnancy to expect a 10lb (sorry don't work in kg) and he was 7lb9oz. Don't worry about it, many people have given birth to big babys. My husbands nan was 14LB born and she was fine :)

Nah, don't worry about it. Estimates are often off and even if it isn't your body will know what to do! I've delivered three kids, 3.8, 4.5 and 4.5 kgs naturally and only had pain relief with the little one due to skyrocketing blood pressure. You may find you have a longer labour, but that's a good thing - your body fully prepares itself. If I had another tomorrow, I'm sure it'd be big and I'm sure I'd have it naturally with no pain relief. Honestly. Giving birth is THE MOST amazing thing you will do in your life. Your body is an incredible thing. Trust it.

They got all my baby weights totally wrong my 3rd pregnancy 2 months ago they said he was gonna be huge, they even done the c section 2 weeks early. He turned out to be my smallest of the three lol Good luck and don't worry they can't really predict correctly what he or she weighs.

They were estimating my DS at 4.8kgs at the final ultrasounds...and he ended up being 4.02 :) So they can be way off with these estimates! I ended up with a c-sec due to being 2 weeks over with DS not even descending and a low placenta so can't speak for a natural birth but my sister gave birth to her 4.5kilo DD naturally (2 weeks early) with no issues :)

Don't worry! All three of my children were big babies (3.75, 3.9 and 4.2 kgs). All three were delivered naturally without any pain relief and my longest labor was only 3 hours (and that was for the smallest of the 3) . When I was worried how big my first baby was estimated to be a few weeks before due date my doctor told me not to worry - what really counts is head circumference as that's the only bit that won't give during delivery.

The estimates are very often waaaay out, so your baby might be much smaller than they think and they don't grow much in the last few weeks.
