Bumbo Seat or Jumperoo

DS is 6 months old. Hasn't started crawling yet but has started sitting on his own for few minutes without any support before slumps to the sides.

Should I get a Bumbo seat for him? Have heard mixed reviews for it.

And I also need reviews for a Jumperoo. DH wants to get that for DS but then I think if the baby starts crawling and enters an age where they get active, they will get bored/tied up sitting in the Jumperoo. I don't want to curb his wish to crawl and explore.

Would you suggest either or both or none??

Toooo confused..

Here I go with my broken record again. ;) I firmly believe that babies roll over, sit, crawl, stand and walk when their wee muscles and skeletons are ready for it. I do not think any of these aids are a good idea developmentally for any healthy baby eventually hitting all of the milestones. agree.. agree.. agree!!!! also why are "we" in such a rush to get babys through these milestones? let them just be!! they change so quickly, one weekend my 6 month old couldn't sit, next weekend Dh was amazed at how strongly she was sitting.. and now she's rocking like she's about to shuffle across the room!!

at what age did you all start using the bumbo? i've heard as soon as DD can hold her head, its ok to use the bumbo. the guy in the store tried to tell me 6 weeks :\: Anywho, she's getting better with the head control but now seeing some considering the bumbo at 6 months? DD is nearing 3mos and I was hoping we were getting close to bumbo time since she's a total social butterfly. my nearly 11 week old loves her Bumbo. Just bought it 1-2 weeks ago, i only put her in it for maybe 5 mins max at a time until she is a wee bit older. she has very good head control and strong neck muscles.

I didnt liek the bumbo, my little one at 4 mnths could get herself out of it and fall in a heap on the floor...no idea how she could do this but everytime she got out of it so i stopped using it. The Jumperoos are brilliant, i found you only use them for a short-ish period of time though so i would try get a second hand one as they are pretty pricey brand new.

DS is 6.5 months. We've used the bumbo for a while but so that he can sit at the table with us and its great now when feeding him solids. The jumperoo we just got and out little guy loves it. We had the exersaucer before that but he loves jumping so much that the jumperoo is a better fit.

They're for totally different purposes. We found the Bumbo was handy when DS first started on solids, but we couldn't use it much beyond six months as he could almost get himself out of it. So it was useful, but only for a short time. He's had his Jumperoo since he was about four months and still loves it now at eight and a half months. He didn't really 'get' it to start with but now he bounces around in there having a great time. He's been crawling for a while and stands up by himself (holding onto furniture) but still loves a good bounce.

Completely agree with Flower girl, my DD is almost 8mths and loves her Jumperoo, its so much fum to see them enjoying it. She has been using since the age of 6mths. Bumbo is great for outdoors, beaches, parks. I would highly recommend both.

I would say have both :) Bumbo seats are great! You can take it anywhere and make DS feel part of the 'gang'. We took bumbo seat for a picnic, to the beach, and just to friends' houses too. Our DS started crawling around 7-8 monts and I read mix reveiws on the 'walker' and decided to go against using walker but a jumperoo ... DS LOVED IT! Once he started to realise how the 'thing' work, he would jump 'high' ... funny sight. If price is a factor (as it cost about Dhs 700+) see if you can get it from Dubizzle. (Fisher-Price) Once DS started to crawl, I switch times ... especially when I like DS to stay put in one place for a minute or two.... (when nature calls) I put DS in his Jumperoo. the Fisher-Price has various toys for little one to play with whilst sitting in them .... I don't know if it is because of the jumperoo - but i feel DS has strong leg muscles.... and when he started to walk at 13 months, he was instantly a strong walker ... thanks to jumperoo I think ...

none. DS had a bumbo which was a bit tight for him, and he used it for maybe a month.. the only use it had was when we went out to dine we could put him on the table in it.
