I was thinking of getting a cot from Babyshop and then getting a really nice mattress for it from somewhere else, like Mamas & Papas.
Has anyone bought a cot from Babyshop, are they sturdy? They looked alright to me in the store.
If anyone has bought a cot from Mothercare/Mamas & Papas/Pottery Barn, how do you feel it is superior to Babyshop ones (mattress aside).

I ended up getting a fantastic deal yesterday on their Kendall Collection (Chestnut colour- which they are discontinuing)... 75% off the original price! I got 2 cribs, an extra wide dresser, and change table top all for Dh 2215! The salesperson at PBK told me they've discounted all their Chestnut furniture for the last 4-5 months as the colour Chestnut is being phased out entirely. Can't believe I just heard about it now. Thanks to sourskittleashnut for the heads-up :) Also their promo today (200 Dh back for every Dh 1000 you spend) is apparently only on dark-colored ie espresso furniture. Happy shopping! edited by jetsetz on 12/10/2012

Do you know the name of the cot that was on sale? This is a huge saving! Yes it was the Kendall Low Profile Crib, they might still have it! http://www.potterybarnkids.com/design-studio/videos/kendall_low_profile_crib.html Popped through tonight, the last one is on hold for someone till tomorrow and its only the display model left. Decided to go for the sleigh cot instead. They are starting a promotion tomorrow for every 1,000 dhs spent you get 200 dhs back.

@sourskittleashnut: Thanks for the update. Sounds like you bagged an absolute steal :) Does anyone know how often Pottery Barn has sales? Before I got pregnant I would delete all the emails and text msgs which I perpetually seemed to get from them. Now that I'm actively looking to buy baby stuff from PB, I'm actually waiting to get spam from them!

[b'>Update:[/b'> Pottery Barn Kids had an End Of Season Sale on a cot, and it cost us just 560dhs! Usually their cots start from 2600dhs+, so it's a real bargain and I highly recommend anyone looking for a cot to go to PB Kids ASAP to see if they still have it (We went to the one in Mirdif City Center). The cot is a medium-brown colour, height adjustable, but the sides don't drop. . The mattress size for it is 70cm x 132cm, and PB Kids mattresses start from 700dhs, we got a Latex one from Babyshop on sale for 350dhs (normally it's 460dhs). Babyshop had cheaper ones (like foam, and foam with springs), the latex one is the most expensive. These are American sizes, which is why it worked to get the cot from PB and mattress from Babyshop, if I had gone to Mamas & Papas it wouldnt have fit since they have UK sizes. Mothercare has their own size which was 60cm x 120cm, their cots started from 500dhs, and were also height adjustable but no drop sides. Now if only I can get Pottery Barn linens on sale for the cot, they are gorgeous! edited by sourskittleashnut on 01/10/2012

We bought ours from Mammas and Pappas, as we had been gifted vouchers at our babyshower which we used to go towards it. Two years on, i have to say it was one of the best purchases we made. Its one of the solid wood ones that converts to a toddler bed, so no drop side. We are both only 5' 4" and 5' 7" and honestly i've never found it an issue. I found some of the babyshop ones felt a bit rickety - but im sure it just depends on the model. I wanted something extremely sturdy that would take a lot of moving and taking up/putting down (you never know when you will be moving house out here!) And i wanted it to last through out hopefully growing family.

I got my cot bed from Mothercare (70x140), solid wood as its the best. Bad part - it doesnt have a drop side. I`d love to get cot from Babyshop, but there was no size i was looking for. As for the mattress, i went around all shops ( Babyshop, Mothercare, Mamas& Papas, Home center...). Babyshop didint have 70x140, Mothercare had nice ones around 900 dhs, Mamas & Papas - 1200 dhs. Talked to few doctors back home & in here, also with moms, all of them said, mattress should be firm, made of natural materials & breathable. The worst one was from foam, i agreed coz i spent my childhood on one. So my option was to get for my baby something better if i can afford. The one with springs are not bad at all, just try it with your hand, you shouldnt feel them, better if every spring is isolated (in pocket). We ended up buying fancy mattress from mamas & papas (sleepfresh natural mattress). I know its expensive but my husband insisted on a very good one because of hot weather in here (breathable), nonallergic, will absorb less dust (our sandy environment) & most important - babies are spending lots of time in bed, so let it be a good one (thanks God i can buy it & use for next 5 years). My 2 biggest investments were nice healthy bed & safe car seat. Thats my IMHO, we all want the best for our babies :)

We have a mamas and papas and it is great. They are pricey but you can get good discounts on end of lines at their outlet store. Also be aware that the ones that convert to beds later don't have a drop side if you are looking for that. We are tall so ok but it would be a challenge if we were a bit shorter.

We have the cot from Babyshop and they are good enough for the length of usage. However, I do like Mothercare cot that converts into a toddler bed and if I would have to buy again, I would go for that. Well actually, I would try to find a pre-loved Mothercare cot bed and would buy a new mattress only.
