I am trying to decide on a double pram for our soon to be born baby, and almost 2 year old to share. Can any of you mums out there help me with a couple of questions please;-)

There is a Phil & Ted's and a Britax, both designs have 1 seat under the other. Is is comfy for the toddler, and is it a problem having one child with only a view of the other's back?

There is also a Graco, with 1 seat behind the other. Is the toddler seat big and comfy enough for them to have a sleep? It does look a bit small!

I believe the side by side ones can be a bit tricky to fit through doorways...

Really looking forward to any advice :-)

I've just got a P&T Vibe V2. While I can't comment on whether the smaller child likes being underneath - DD has screamed at me every time I've tried to put her in it so far - from a push-it-around perspective, I love it! Great high handle, easy to manoeuvre, and only 10kg or so. And it folds up in one piece without having to take the seat off. I think it was GBP488 and Dad brought it over, but to S&S it would have been about 800dhs.

what about the bugaboo donkey? that may be a good option because when your eldest doesn't want to sit in the stroller anymore it can easily be converted back to a single stroller. I think Just Kidding are planning on selling it.

I have a City Select and there are good and bad points about it. I bought it 'unseen' as I just "had to have it!" but I wish I'd actually given it a test run first. (at over £800, I wouldn't tell my DH this of course!) Don't get me wrong, I do like it but it's really heavy, takes up so much room in the boot and isn't quick to put up & down. My eldest goes in the front and if I need to go up a kirb I have to REALLY put my weight behind it to get it up so probably not ideal for a petit lady. Having said that, I'm not sure what I would have got if not the City Select and I think none of them are exactly right. The basket is a great size though and as previously mentioned, if I haven't put the second seat on, my son will happily sit in the bottom looking very pleased with himself!

I am ordering a City Select too, although it will come from the US as it is much cheaper. Looks like a great stroller I have my heart set on a City Select too, would love to know where you are ordering from and how much delivery would cost. I have never ordered a large item from abroad before and finding it a little intimidating, can only imagine that it would cost a fortune & need a dummies guide?! Has anyone actually tried / handled the Zoom from ABC design? I have looked at that one too and wondering how it compares to the City Select... Thanks! Sorry ...only saw your post now. Email me on [email protected] and I'll give you all the details. Zoom is being sold as Obaby brand in the UK so plenty of shops online sell it. The reason I prefer the City Select compared to this and all other side by side strollers, is that the City Select is a single seater when you need single and double when u want a double. Compared to P&T, I don't like the second child being so low, I know my kids will fight to sit in top seat so both have a view...this is where City scores! My mum test drove the CS at John Lewis and says it is very sturdy and solid. HTH edited by TurkishDervish on 22/11/2011 If you can't be bothered clicking on the second seat for the Select my daughter fits into the shopping basket at the bottom as it's so big :) More than welcome to come and look at it if you want to see before you buy one. Shop n ship quoted me AED1800 to ship it from the US but I'm sure there are other ways of doing it. I was lucky and had a friend who brought it over for me. <em>edited by starsouthern on 23/11/2011</em>

I have the P&T Sport double (that I'm selling with loads of extras (UV cover, cocoon, car-seat adaptor, travel bag, hooks, caddy) - email me on hello.kittydxb AT gmail.com if you're interested ;) ) and found it perfect for my two that are 21 months apart. Because they very rapidly became of similar weight I had my eldest in the bottom seat (she'd have a tendency to hop in and out) and although sometimes she didn't love it, she always preferred it to walking! The P&T's been an absolute godsend here and I love it to bits, but now that Her Ladyship has turned 4 and is a Big Girl, I'm not pushing her around in it any more... and DS is proving far happier to walk that DD ever was.

My daughter is often mistaken for a 2.5 - 3 year old, I didn't say she wouldn't fit the seat currently just that by the time she is that age she may not particlarly with the hood and that in comparison to some others I looked at it was a smaller seat. <em>edited by chance on 21/11/2011</em>

My nearly three year old is taller than average and she fits in nicely in the City Select.

Thanks for all the great advice!! Our 2 year old is average height, but likes his space in the pram. Am looking at all your suggestions on-line, as most have to be shipped, but also looking at the Jane tandem too. It's so difficult trying to find one with lots of comfort for both age babies, as my toddler was so comfy in his My4 pram! Have definately got a shorter list after your comments though...thank you:-)

Just a quick query, is your nearly two year old tall? My daughter is and we decided against the city select because she didn't seem to have much room until the top of the seat in comparison to similar prams. Good luck, we are out of the UAE at the moment and ended up buying a P & T Verve which so far I love.

Love love love my double mclaren. Although side by side i find it not as bulky as it looks. Quite easy to handle also. Even with both kids in it. Saw some at baby shop today in MOE.

What I found with the Graco design is that my kids (boys aged 8 months and 2 1/2 yrs at the time of use) would turn around and poke the back passenger, or the back passenger would reach forward and annoy the front passenger. Luckily, with the Phil&Ted design the boys can't see each other, so are more interested in their surroundings. The little guy in the back isn't as interested in poking his brother seated in front!

I found these in my research and I must admit the ZOOM in ABC design is really awesome: http://www.abc-design.de/en/products/twins-tandems.html http://adventurebuggycompany.com/index.htm Not sure how to get them sent here but I think Adventure Buggy does it. Seems like they are the designers Phil and Ted who designed P & T (obviously!). Also they make up for you as per order. Now...back to selecting mine...

I watched reviews on YouTube from baby gizmo on all double strollers. I found it really useful in making my decision. Sad I know but it's a lot of money too spend on something you may end up hating. <em>edited by starsouthern on 17/11/2011</em>

Hi all, I too was really impressed with the city select, but I opted for the Kolcraft Optima 11 (its black with polka dots and red) its just as good, similar design and much less expensive. I am really happy with it, easy to use and light weight. Amazon can ship it here... http://www.google.com/products/catalog?q=kolcraft+tandem+stroller&hl=en&prmd=imvns&bav=on.2,or.r_gc.r_pw.,cf.osb&biw=1685&bih=855&um=1&ie=UTF-8&tbm=shop&cid=1264573093830954247&sa=X&ei=dfvEToPIFomu8gPa3aXlCg&ved=0CGkQ8wIwAQ#ps-sellers Now you have confused me...i had already started my order for the City Select but this is less than half the price, Which store did you use on Amazon? How much was delivery and how long did it take to arrive? I need to have it here in 2.5 weeks so have to make a decision asap. Thanks for the great info though!

I bought a Babby Jogger City Select and love it! I have a four month old and nearly three year old. You can clip the carseat on aswell as have the toddler in a full size chair, which lies down completely. Unfortunately you have to buy it from overseas as it's not available here. http://tinyurl.com/d7cfgo9

I've used the P&T for my older two, then for my middle + youngest child. None of them have ever (from birth) liked being in the back seat. I know people who swear by the P+T so not everyone has this issue. There are side-by-sides that easily fit through a standard doorway. I have the Peg Perego Aria twin and LOVE it. It takes a car seat for a newborn on one side, both seats lie back flat, tonnes of storage in the basket, lightweight, true one-handed open and close. I'm told you can't buy them new in UAE any longer. Might be worth searching for a second-hand one. (mine is second hand and perfect)
