DD is exclusively bottlefed which is why this is such a problem. DD refuses the bottle if she is awake even if she is very hungry. The only time she's accepted the bottle is if she is sleepy or drowsy and consequently is very relaxed, so I've been timing her feeds around that. She is two months adjusted and four months actual. What can I do to make her accept the bottle whilst awake as well??

Try to get DH to offer baby the bottle cause if she can smell you then will want you. Try madela bottles/teats or TT. Be structured about when you give it say only at dreamfeed time for a few days then slowly introduce during the day. If you always give in when baby refuses and offer the breast then this will take longer as you will teach the baby that it causing a fuss = getting what it wants IE boobies. Good luck, persevere and trust me it wont starve.

Hi LD she could be getting distracted, my DS is 7.5weeks & is now so nosey i have to ensure he faces a blank wall. Otherwise all he will do is suck once or twice then stop. However, he is BF mostly, so not sure if this makes a difference.

Eeeekkkk! What a hassle. I know you probably don't want options like this, but have you considered syringing it into her mouth? Spoon? I have some single-use hospital teats left from NICU - would you like them? I'm not sure how many, I'll just check.

meals, she's always been like that, but I've attributed it to the reflux. Now that the reflux is sorted she is still doing it and I don't know how to make her accept a bottle awake. The type of nipple has no effect. It's almost as if she's got an oral aversion.

Is it the teat? Could you try changing that? I would have thought it's a little early for her to be getting distracted but perhaps you could try feeding DD in a quiet dark room? Or try dangling a toy in front of her face to take her attention away from the bottle? Is this a new issue LD? She's been on the bottle for a while now right??? What's changed do you think? Perhaps a change in flavour of your milk???
