Hello Ladies,
As always, your info is appreciated. I have just looked out all the docs and found that my Birth Cert is abbreviated...ahhhh means I will need to get a new one ordered before I can apply for DD's passport.
Thanks Nic
You don't need the British Birth certficate to get the baby's British passport. The British Birth certificate is a "nice to have" and will certainly make life much easier down the road. Also if you move back to the UK at some point it will be more difficult to get as when the baby is born overseas the birth certificate needs to be obtained where the baby was born. DS is 8 months and we got his British Passport after he was 4 weeks old and only just got his British Birth certifcate. It is very easy to get the Birth Certificate here for the baby. You just need to ensure you have your and your DH [u'>long birth certificates [/u'>along with the other documents that natashab mentioned.
Hi Nic25
You don't have to register the birth at the British Embassy but if you want to you will get a British Birth Certificate. You need to go to the embassy between 8am and 11am with the Arabic and English Birth Certificate, yours and your husbands passports and long birth certificates, your marriage certificate, 1020 aed and the completed birth registration form which can be downloaded from the website:

It will take a week to get the British Birth Certificate (I went this week) and I was told that once you have the British Birth Certificate, this can be sent for the passport application and you don't have to worry about sending others docs for the passport, such as parents long birth certificate, but not sure as I haven't done this bit yet. They have all the info on the website so if you decide not to get the birth registered at the British embassy, the website will list the docs you need ot send for the passport.

Hi,
I now have DD's birth cert attested in Arabic and English. I think I now need to register the birth at the British Embassy??? Then I think I need to get her passport and then visa?
If anyone has done this recently, could you please advise what docs are required and how long it all takes?
Thanks Nic
Forgot to add both DH and I are British
