Hello ladies.... My friend who lives in Sharjah is going to deliver next week. She is desperately looking for a private masseuse....who would be able to provide home service and give her a massage after delivery...15 sessions over a period of 40 days. Any recommendations? TIA

Yes, only a few weeks to go now for us June Mummies.. Amazing how the time goes by.. Not sure how can manage to meet up as you can't post any personal details in the forum... Hi June mummies...... how are you all doing? Not long to go now! Kathi have just seen your post on the main forum, am due early June and would love to meet up for a coffee or something and arrange some summer playdates (more for us than them I think!). Good luck, into the final stretch now, cannot wait to meet our little one! edited by Kathi84 on 29/04/2014

Hi Ladies! We're moving to Doha from the US this summer after our twins will be born in June. While yo've been shopping for your little ones have you come across anything that was really hard to find? I want to limit what I bring with me, but don't want to be missing out on any essentials. Thanks!

Thanks for the advise PB...still looking for a stroller...really like the Sola2 from Mamas & Papas...so lets see. For these pregnancy pillows, what size do you recommend...saw that there are small ones and bigger ones, so not sure what is the best solution. How are you all feeling by now?

Carla1 - Yes it's better she went for vacation now rather than when baby is around. You will need all the help you can get with household chores. I just got a basic white cot from Mothercare, nothing fancy. The important part is the mattress! Get the best mattress you can find. Changing table with drawers was handy too. We got my DS a moses basket for when he was just born, he used it for like the first 2 months as I thought he's still too tiny for the cot. Graco swing was heaven sent. There were times that DS would only sleep while he's in there, thankfully he grew out of that habit. We also got him a vibrating chair with music but didn't really use it that much because he preferred the swing. I sold/gave away most of his baby items then after a month I found out I was pregnant again! Hahaha. So I have an excuse to buy everything again, and the best part is it will be pink my favorite color lol. The best way for time to fly is really shopping and decorating the nursery. Love love love it. Hope you enjoy it as much as I did x

Ohh PB! I am eagerly looking forward to setting up the nursery but my household help just left for a month's vacation. I know not an ideal time but if i had not sent her now then she would have gone in July...which ofcourse is not the ideal time... Will see if i can manage these things on my own..still have quite a few things left to buy...like COT! hahahaha....... Any pointers / tips on that??

Carla1- Yes I have one of those pregnancy pillows, I got mine from mothercare and they're really fab. Helped a lot especially in the last trimester when my bump was too big for comfort lol. Have you started decorating your baby's room? How about washing and ironing the newborn/0-3 months clothes? I started organizing the nursery room, closet, hospital bag, etc during that time. But now I don't have time to even think about them! I used a special detergent for baby's clothes (Purex Baby) as we were just using the regular Ariel powder for ours and even I sometimes feel they're too strong. I also kept reading about breastfeeding as I was very eager but even after all that reading I still wasn't prepared enough. You can also go to antenatal classes with DH if you have the time. HTH. Enjoy the last 12 weeks, soon we will have our little ones in our arms. I just can't wait :)

Hi ladies. Some moms have found the carrycot attachment to stroller quite useful. I just didn't. The first few weeks my DS was born we were mostly home trying to establish breastfeeding. We went out like a few times in the morning to get some vitamin D but it was too hot even at 7am (he was born in April, imagine our babies born in June) by the time he was 4 months, the cot was too small! So yes, waste of 999dhs. Now, I'm on the hunt for a double stroller and this time I'm really taking my time researching and asking experienced moms rather than just jumping on the best looking one. That was my mistake last time. Anyone been to baby bazaar in Times Square? I've only been there once and I got a lot of barely used educational toys for my DS for a really good price it's almost for free. I would definitely recommend it, even if you're not planning to buy anything. Just to pass time and meet other moms with bumps. :) Would love to meet up for coffee but unfortunately we are not staying in Dubai. :( So enjoy ladies, hope you have a great time x Kathi84 - My advice regarding strollers would be take your time to choose, research, try them out, ask other moms and ask yourself what are the things you're looking for in a stroller. Car seat attachment is a good plus. I got a Quinny Buzz 3 the first time around because it looked nice, maxi cosi attaches to it, lovely red fabric and very modern looking because of the 3 wheels. I read the reviews, people complaining about front swivel wheels getting stuck, shopping basket too small and the frame being too heavy. But I disregarded them all because I loved the way it looks. Stupid decision, after 5 months I sold it for almost half the price and got a Bugaboo Bee instead. So I hope when you choose "The one" you have thought about it real hard so you won't make the same mistake I did. :) Good luck and have fun shopping!!!

Hi Mums, Nice to see so much of mums to deliver their little ones in June,my due date is also in June.Im new to abudhabi and wiling to deliver my baby here itself rather than going to my home country, but my husband is scared whether i can handle it my self all alone. So can anyone please tell me the best hospital i can go to ,for my delivery, currently im going to a doctor in Al Ahalia Hospital. Also how much will it cost to hire a nanny or maid to help me with the baby for a period of 03 months on a daily/hourly visit. Thank you

Thanks Carla, still go for check ups to my doctor but she said that I should check for Al Zahra as it is closer to the Marina as City…will go there to have a look and then make a decision… Sleeping also became a difficult thing for me..bought one of this nursery pillows to sleep on the side which is much more comfortable now. We also started our baby shopping and looked for baby strollers… so much choice so very difficult to make a choice. Was not sure if we have to buy one of the carry cots.. so good to hear the feedback from PB that its not necessary. To meet for a coffee is a nice idea..

Thanks PB! Somehow sleeping is becoming a ordeal even now! I expected it to show up much later! My upper back, rib cage, shoulder blades hurt like anything! The only way i can find comfort is to lie on my back, which is not a recommended sleeping position......wondering how to pass the next 13 weeks! Any tips ladies? Welcome Kathi! Comgratulations! I also go to Al Zahra for my check ups but not sure about our decision as to where to deliver. Either City or Zahra....Have heard both types of stories for both of them! I am in AR....Where are you all located? Maybe we can meet up for coffee??

My DS never wore a cap, so I wasted all my money on those lol. He hated mittens as well so I had to make sure that his nails are always very short. Don't buy a lot of the same things like these, because your baby might not like it. My maxi cosi car seat snaps into the quinny buzz so it was great during the first few months so I didn't have to disturb him to get out of the car. The bassinet like I said was a waste to be honest. If you will not be out for more than 2 hours then baby can stay in the car seat, otherwise they say it damages their back to be in a reclined position at a young age. My nursing pillow was a gift from my baby shower so no idea where it came from but the brand name is Boppy and I got extra covers from amazon. I never washed the pillow itself to be honest, just the covers and they still look new until now. I prefer the electric steam sterilizer than the microwave one simply because my microwave sterilizer can only do 4 bottles and the steam can do 6 so maybe I'm just lazy haha. Don't forget to get lanolin nipple cream if you're planning to breastfeed because it really helps a lot in the first 2 weeks. Just keep applying it after every feed. I used the medela lanolin. And the BEST ADVICE I EVER GOT, SLEEP AS MUCH AS YOU CAN.

PB....Mine also! Whole day passes by and maybe without a single nudge.....but here comes the sunset and he is active! Even before i felt the movements, i could go whole day without eating (which i forced myself not to) and right after sunset, i would be hungry after every few hours! as for clothes...i think i am covered for them for now but need to start shopping for major things...and a good pointer about the AC....might have to get some cardigans, blankets, caps etc. We r looking into buying Chicco's imove, which has the options to buy car seat, bassinet and the regular seat. As you have also pointed out, i dont think we would really need the bassinet, so might just go with the car seat and the regular seat. Yes, nursing pillow does seem to be a necessary....from where did you get yours? I saw something similiar in Pottery barn for Dhs. 199 but not sure if it was machine washable or had the option of extra covers. Ladies, please check the thread "Things to buy?" and see if you can advice me of some 'must haves' and 'waste of money / time'.........:)

Since this is my second baby, I have been feeling kicks since 16 weeks. Barely any movement in the daytime and mostly at night, sometimes it wakes me up around 3:00am. I hope she will not be nocturnal like this when she's out of the womb lol. I started shopping with my first when I reached 24 weeks, I bought things bit by bit, it was easier for me. You will not find everything you want in one shop so you will be going through shops and malls, it's good exercise too! There are some things I bought that were barely used and I have some favorites too. My advice would be, don't buy too much clothes especially newborn and 0-3 months, believe me they grow out of it really quick. And even if our babies will be born in the summer, we are always in ac so you have to consider that. I bought a Quinny Buzz 3 and used the bassinet with it max 10 times, so that's one of the things I regret buying. Boppy pillow is a BIG help especially since I was new to breastfeeding. You should start shopping because in the last few weeks you might be too tired. Enjoy ladies.

Hello Everyone! Thank you Pinkbutterfly for posting....yes, we have been very quite! i think all bz in enjoying their pregnancy! I just started by 26th week....thankfully, not very fat yet...just gained 6 kilos till yet and doc seems okay with it but ofcourse major weight gain period will start now.... Like everyone else, i guess, experiencing quite a bit of movements but mostly in the lower abdomen...feel very uncomfortable if have a something more to eat than usual...heartburn strikes sometimes but not major that i would need an antacid. Sleep is getting a bit difficult also....tummy feels heavy and aches a bit.....but i guess all these are very usual and very very mild uncomforts...so i would say, overall a very comfortable pregnancy..... Structural scan went well, all was good with the baby....were just disappointed that he was not in a good position to enable us to have a 3D video of him....had GTT 2 days ago, so still waiting for the results....rest looks all okay.... Thinking of starting the shopping now....have made a list but dreading going from shop to shop looking for the right options......i get panicked now thinking have only 15 weeks left! Where did the time go? but have heard that last 3 months are difficult and you get to feel every passing day...... How is everyone else doing? have we decided on our hospitals? what about antenatal classes??

Hi June mamas. We've all been very quiet. Hopefully, everyone is doing great and enjoying their bumps :) We found out at 16 weeks that we're having a girl, and confirmed it in the anatomy scan as well. So we're very excited that my 10 month old boy will be having a sister in THREE MONTHS! Yes, we have three months left until we get to hold our little babies. This pregnancy had been like my first, no morning sickness. no pains, nothing at all, it's like I'm just getting fat lol. But I had a really hard labor, 2 days of contraction that goes on and off!!! I'm hoping that this will be better as it's the second time around, and I'm sure the birth canal has somehow expanded haha. In my anatomy scan, the sonographer found a placental cyst. So I'm under observation right now, but my dr said there's nothing to worry about because it's very small and it didn't get any bigger in the last 4 weeks. Fingers crossed everything will go smoothly. How's everyone doing? x

Hey ladies. Congratulations to everyone on their pregnancies. I'd posted on here a month or so ago, but somehow, it seems to have disappeared. I'm due early June, but as the baby will be delivered via c-section, I'm going to be a June mum too. Nearly 19 weeks now. This is my second baby. My first was born in Jan last year. Was wondering if any of you are also second-time c-section mums, with such a short gap between the two babies. I'm a little nervous about that.

Teenachandy: Am so sorry for your loss. Cant even imagine what you are going through....... Gitte: I am also very much inclined towards Al Zahra (closer to house, nice and big facility, ample parking etc.) but have heard that Neonatal care is not as good / advanced at City...so am again confused. As you never know, when you might need them...... Clairedxb: How exciting to feel those movements! I am in my week 20 and am not very sure if those 'things' are movements or just plain old gas! so frustrating.... Havent thought about the antenatal classes yet...do you have any information to share about them??

Very sorry to hear about your loss Teenachandy. It's very unfair and hope with time you will start to heal. Gitte, who did you call to arrange your tour of Al Zahra? Heard some very good things about them and would like to do the tour. Feeling lots of movement now which is amazing! Have you all decided on antenatal classes? When will you start?

Carla: We went on a tour at Al Zahra hospital yesterday. The midwife was British and very nice. Very nice facilities, all new. Also think that prices are better compared to what I've heard about other hospitals like Medcare, Garhoud and city. Most important to us was that they are very pro-natural in terms of giving birth. The same is the doctor we are seening. Anni Engberg at Drs Nicolas & Asps. Im in my 22 week now, it's a girl and everything is well:) News and updates from anyone else?

Hi Teenachandy, Im so sorry to hear about your loss. Im sure all of us feel the same and its so hard to think of anything to say that can bring you any comfort at this difficult time. I lost my last pregnancy, but at a much earlier stage so only have a small idea of the sadness and heart break you are experiencing. I hope you have good family and friends to support and we are all thinking of you xx edited by Stella1 on 26/01/2014
