DD used to have a great night sleep pattern. She's tucked in bed by 8.30pm sharp and will be asleep for 6 hours before she wakes up for her 1st feed then again 4 hours later...which is FAB!!
However, just last week, somehow, she's awake at 11.30pm then every 2 hours after for feeding!!

Is my b*#$@t milk less filling for her? Does anyone know why?

Please help...

S

You mustn't, however, start any solids before 40 months (18 weeks? 20 weeks?) because their gut isn't physically mature enough to process it. hhmmm... 40 months? Lol 4 months! 17 full weeks at an absolute minimum. 6 mos is the average, and its quite common for babies to be ready later. Signs of readiness are here: http://www.kellymom.com/nutrition/solids/solids-when.html

There's a well documented 4-month sleep regression (search on here or google for more info; I think kellymom.com may have something). It is a normal developmental stage, not linked to increasing hunger or readiness for solids. *Hugs* this too shall pass. xx

It sounds like the dreaded growth spurt! You could try putting her to bed a bit earlier, sometimes if they are over tired they don't sleep as well, but unfortunately rhythms change. I would hesitate to start her on solids now, they don't necessarily sleep better with them. DD is not necessarily waking up because she's hungry either, she might have just figured out that if she wakes in the night she can see you and that's fun!

sleep patterns change. At 4 months, she could be getting ready for weaning. There is nothing wrong with your breastmilk, it's just another inevitable stage in her development. My DD followed that pattern - usual 4 hourly feed and then at 4 months she started cluster feeding from 19h30-22h30 every half hour and then waking every 2 hours at night. She was already avidly following my actions whenever I ate so I had a chat to my health visitor about it (the guidelines say to wait until the magic 6 month mark), who is a very clued up, pragmatic woman. She basically said, sure, I could wait, but I'd get no sleep from that point until 6 months and she was very obviously ready. You mustn't, however, start any solids before 40 months (18 weeks? 20 weeks?) because their gut isn't physically mature enough to process it.

How old is your DD? Maybe she is going through a growth spurt right now? In the last 14 months I don't think my DD ever had any pattern. Just when I thought that I nailed it down and she has a routine, it all changes. I wouldn't stress out too much about it as their routines change constantly. she's only 4 months..
