Good afternoon, I'd like to join this thread if that's ok and see what everyone has to say! I'm brand new to Dubai from UK, and surprisingly discovered I was in my second trimester recently! I'll be due March, am having to play everything by ear but just booked an anomaly scan/ morphology scan for 10 days time, then looking at going to Welcare hosp for an appointment in a few weeks, eek! It's tricky isn't it when no friend/ family network around and you don't just go and book with a GP/ midwife like back home!? Hope everyone is doing well!

Hi all, I've hit 18 weeks. Feeling fine, except for being tired and I currently have a head cold. Have definitely got a little belly to show now! We haven't had our anomaly scan as yet, booked in a couple of weeks time. When I had my down syndrome screening scan they gave me a free 3D scan, it was quite freaky to see actually. The sonographer said if it's quiet next time I go in for the scan, she'll do another 3D one for me. So we'll see what happens there. I'm hoping not to find out the *** so hopefully I can't see anything obvious! Hope everyone is feeling well.

Hiya Ladies, I havent been on in a while, we've been so busy. We had a family photoshoot with our girl this weekend, thought it would be nice to get one before the bump gets bigger. Then next time we can get one with the new kiddo. We had a 3D scan at 12 weeks and the dr told us he ws 80% sure of the gender but we decided not to find out this time...dnt knw how lng i can contain myself for tho. Sorry to hear about ur backaches and cramps allowicious_24 i remember getting them last time :( ie been lucky so far but im sure it'll catch up with me soon. I got UTI during my first pregnancy too n the dr told me theres a high chance i could get it again now...thats just what i wanted to hear:( Saggi_1, congrats on the baby boy, u can always try again for a girl nxt time hehe...my hubs really wants a boy this time too but im worried he wont try for a third if it is...i really want two girls and a boy. Im with Anne too but will head bk for the birth, its a bit crappy that she travels bk so much, i would have switched drs too if i were staying.

Hi Ladies, Quick update: have chosen OBGYN and booked in for the week after Eid. I hope she is available in March or I am going to have to go see someone else and will only have two appointments before I go to the UK for a month. Looking forward to the scan and think I have decided that I want to know the gender now as I could shop in the UK and save some money!! All the sickness has gone, replaced with sciatica, cramps in my legs in the mornings, back ache and pain in my knee. I think I have some round ligament pain too. I still have all my spots and my bump is a bit higher this time - my DH is convinced it's a girl this time but I am still adamant another boy :) We shall see! Hope you are all well? Anyone else planning a 3D/4D scan? I had one with my son and it was amazing. This time I have lots of scar tissue so scans haven't been that clear and am worried to have a 3D would be a waste due to poor visibility - its quite expensive to do. I hope you feel better soon alowicious_28, yeah its important to check if your OBGYN is around in march.. i was with Dr Anne at City and she was very unsure/unplanned about her travel plans and said she could go away anytime in feb or march or april... i successfully switched to Dr Elsa and hope it all goes well. i will be doing the 3d/4d scan at City in week 20. i wanted to do it earlier but the Dr suggested that it might not be very clear so yeah opting at the end of week 20. i do have some back pain but so glad the naueseatic phase is over... i have put on total of 4 kilos so far in week 17, but most of it was in the last month.. i hope not to gain more...

Hi ladies, Just wondering, does anyone know when it is advised to stop wearing underwire bras? I heard something about stopping due to developing breast tissue/milk ducts. Thanks! Also, re the maternity clothes. Try shopping online - new look or ASOS, will deliver here for free (I think new look has a minimum purchase).

Hiya ladies, I haven't been checking this thread because i was given 3rd April as my due date by Dr Anne Phillips but Dr George as the genesis clinic gave me the 31 March...i was 4 days early with my first so I'll be checking both threads...hope thats ok. Saggi 1... Instead of buying loads of maternity clothes have u thought of wearing maxi dresses...i found them so easy during my pregnancy....i did buy a few maternity wear too but its so hrd to find something nice...I'll be looking n Max as they are reasonable also bcos we may think this is our last :| hi MrsDB... congratulations and most welcome to be part of this group too... are you happy with Dr Anne... i am still considering to change to someone else...infact i loved Dr George - he was so much better in communication than Dr Anne... also she goes of on leave every three months... which makes it very hard to plan regular check ups... she is also planning feb/march holiday and may not be available during the delivery, please check i just ordered a few dresses from Asos... yeah i love maxi dresses and still fit into some of my beach wear ... haha but cant pull it off at work... Hiya Saggi1, I totally understand what u mean about Dr Anne, she seems so nice but both times I've been in shes either had to rush me because there's a delivery or loved to talk about her family who r all Drs lol. I also find that its hard to get a word in at times... I'm planning on going home for the birth which is why I think i might just stick with it...shes a diamond compared to the NHS too lol I cnt help u with maternity work wear sorry, I've never experienced it...i hope u find something soon

Morning ladies! Hope you and all your little bumps are well. I had the 12 week scan and all is well with baby. Also found out the s*x of the baby. Wonderful news. I feel so different this time round compared to my first pregnancy. No Morning sickness, tiredness, no break outs on my skin. Had it all the first time round. Feeling very lucky. I am going to City Hospital with Dr Elsa, she is just fab, had my first lo with her.

Hi alowicious, I am also having a terrible time with my skin breaking out. What are you doing to manage yours? I haven't yet asked my doctor what products are safe to use. Thanks. I have chosen Al Zahra Hospital and Dr Yamini. Down syndrome screening done and all clear. Bring on March! It's due to the hormones so there isn't a lot you can do really apart from try to drink lots of water!! I have some witch hazel gel which I put on them every night and by the morning they look better but get worse again throughout the day. Mine are more pimples under the skin which feels like sandpaper to touch and those big blind spots that really hurt :( Can't wait till I start to glow - oh wait, I don't think I ever glowed last time lol!!!

Hello ladies ... Congratulations to the new members of march due date... I just got my Down syndrome scans done today at genesis with dr. George and the results were good and normal. I am soooo relieved that the baby is ok. I was so negative all this time. The scan was amazing ... Just divine to see the baby move.... I really liked dr George as well... Although I am with dr Anne at city , I felt he was more warm... Thinking if I should switch but not sure how that would work out... And which hospital he delivers As of now just cherishing the beautiful images and feel more positive .... Glad your scan went well :) My scan also went well. I am 15 weeks now and I've had a week and a half of a reprieve from the nausea and then yesterday felt really sick again - must have been a surge of hormones. Not feeling the 'pregnancy glow' as yet and my skin has gone really spotty - face, neck, chest, upper back - I feel like a teenager lol!! Welcome to the newbies :) Many congrats! I have chosen American Hospital to deliver in but haven't made an appointment as yet. I really want to be more relaxed with this pregnancy so am following the UK schedule of scans and tests and will not see the OBGYN until just before 20 weeks probably. At 13 weeks 4 days I started feeling the baby move :) Last time I didn't feel movement until 15 weeks but didn't realise that's what it was until 16 weeks. My first pg I had an anterior placenta and this time I have a posterior so maybe that's why I have felt 'it' so soon. We didn't find out the gender at the 12 weeks scan so I need to come up with a good nickname for the baby instead of 'it' lol!! Hope you are all well x

Dear Dbai Newbie, well done for you already chosen your hospital , I am still doing my reasearch , Al Zahra would be ideal for me when it comes to location as closest to my home but prices for me are not acceptable as they are double then prices in Latifa or Iranian hospital...and if have to take in concideration complications have to look best option ...struggling finding best option...but happy for you , all the best my dear !! keep in touch Actually prices are not that different. Latifa is 9,000DHS for normal delivery in a private room for 2 nights. Al Zahra is 10,950DHS for the same thing. The difference really comes in the caesarean package - 12,000 DHS at Latifa vs 19,950 at Al Zahra. Given you say your high risk, I assume the chance of caesarean is high so you probably don't want to take the risk of going with Al Zahra or some of the other private hospitals. Anyway, I hope you can find the best place for you.

Hi Leodavid, Congratulations on your first! So far I haven't had any vicious comments but I'm sorry to hear that you have. That's not nice at all. I went to have a look at Latifa and get their prices. It is pretty comparable with some of the private hospitals. I have decided to go with Dr Yamini at Al Zahra. However, I do know that Mediclinic City Hospital has a good NICU if you are concerned re Latifa being closed and your pregnancy being high risk. Wishing you all the best and hope you come to a decision. Hi ladies, Another March friend for you - my first due March 15. Nausea every couple of hours until I eat and lots of indigestion. Otherwise not too bad really. Anyone have any advice on hospitals? Self paying as have not waited out the waiting period for my health cover. Thank you. Dear Dubai Newbie, first of all congrats ! And to all the rest of ladies expecting mid March next year...I am myself expecting same time my first and I am super exited but also terriefied going threw all as I am high risk pregnancy so just praying God all will be good. Same as you Daubai Newbie, I am fairly new in Dubai, moved with my hubby and found out I am preggers...yey ! But in same situation as you , my insurance doesnt cover pregnancy, so have been doing some research this days where is good hospital and found out that Latifa hospital is very good though no frills, but quality and reasonable prices comparing to private hospitals. Also researched Iranian hospital and similar actually even less costs then Latifa...reigister is required with 16 weeks in both hospitals, only momentarily issue with Latifa is that their NICU is closed, so if there is preterm case , they will not be able to take you... just want to mention there is some horrible woman here in forum making vicious comments... I have posted question about hospitals that are not overly expensive and what are the options with banks here if needed personal loans as I have to be prepared for everything with high risk pregnancy ...and I got 1 comment back that i shouldnt even have baby if I cant afford it !? can you imagine that .... I never said I cant afford it and it is a joy in our lives but it can be overly expensive and what is wrong with some minimal loan or financial help if we would need one .... some people ...really ... ladies please share your experince with latifa or iranian hospital if you had recently and recomendations on doctors if possible to request good one there ... all the best ladies !!

Hiya all, Congrats to everyone. I have only recently found out I'm preggers with my 2nd baby :) I'm so so soooo excited, we went to see dr Anne Phillips at city and she squeezed me in...however I do think we will be returning to the UK for the birth again although my last NHS experience was terrible :( Bit concerned that i walked through the X-ray machines at the airport a few weeks back as i didn't know I was expecting, totally forgot to mention it to the dr :( Feeling a little bit more sick this time round although I'm not throwing up, ginger nut biscuits are still saving me...has this worked for anyone else?

Hi everyone, hope you're all well? I am 12 weeks now, got my scan on Tuesday - very excited! Still won't be telling the world for a while yet though. I haven't chosen my OBGYN yet, I'm waiting for the scan just to check everything is ok and then will research and decide. I've still got all day sickness, it's not as bad as it was but my diet is very limited and I have lost 11lbs in weight from food aversions and being sick. I am much less sick now than I was. It's actually been a good day today and haven't felt much nausea - I am hoping this means it's easing off a bit, well I can hope :) congrats alowicious_28, on completing 12 weeks ... im sure you will feel much better now.. i still have a few weeks to go... it seems i have been slightly dehydrated and my ketone test was positive as i havent been able to eat much... have not lost as much weight but i guess slightly weak... fingers crossed for my next scan in two weeks... so worried!

Hi everyone and congrats! I'm 9 weeks now, bloated still, sick still, nausea all day and so tired which is especially hard as have a 3 yr old to look after :) Had my first scan at my Dr and all is well. Going to Fetal Medical centre for 12 week scan as I did last time, they have excellent scanning machine there and give you pics and a DVD and even do a 3D picture of the baby's face to check for cleft lip. Then I plan to go meet my OBGYN. Last time I delivered in City hospital (emergency c0sec) and ended up with e-coli infection and dysentery for 7 weeks following a 2 week stay in hospital due to my bowels stopping working. We are convinced that something in the c-sec room must have been dirty and caused my infection, I had two pus collections in my abdomen the day after and had to wear drains for a few days. Was a horrible experience! The hospital didn't even find out what was wrong with me, after the 6th week of being ill I went crying to my family Dr saying I couldn't cope anymore and he tested a stool sample and said amoebic dysentery which I must also have caught from hospital as I was there for 2 weeks. I also didn't like my OBGYN as he took the mickey out of me and at the last moment wanted to change - looking back I wish I had. So this time going to American Hospital I think and have already booked my Doula. How are you all getting on? p.s. don't let my experience at City put you off, I'm sure plenty of people have had great births there, just not me :)
