Dr Elsa does a mean sweep! ;-) Was 39+4 when she did it and early that morning was woken up with a show and contractions followed.

Sweep did nothing. Accupunture, however, (I think) made the baby drop and had him the next day. I went to Dr. Lanelle at Wellbeing.

Was 1 cm dilated at 37 week check and had a sweep (not sure about you but I found this rather painful). Had sweep at around 9am, 2:15am the next morning my waters broke. Got to hospital 25 minutes later and was 4 cm dilated.

Have you tried going up and down the stairs? I was 40 wk+ 4 and no signs of labour. Went for a walk in the evening and climbed up and down some stairs and in the morning I had to go to the hospital as I was in labour.

I had mine at 38 weeks, actually 1 day before as ds was born the very next morning. I and been 1 cm from 36weeks then was 2cm when I had the sweep. That was at almost 5pm. I was back at the hospital 3am and ds was born at 8am. Wishing you all the best for it. With whatever happens, may your lo arrives safely and healthy. Xox

Oh my I was you nearly 5 months ago! I even put up a thread asking about sweeps! I had mine at 37 weeks due to SPD, I had break though bleeding, I was 3 cm at the time. Did everything, eating pineapple, walks, time with DH. 3 days later my waters broke and DD was born. But I still had to be induced because I just don't think my body was ready nor DD. I was not having regular contractions and because my waters had gone they could not leave it too long. So induction began 7am and she was born later that day. So the sweep did something, but I still had to be induced though. Good luck and hopefully bubs will be here soon.

Had a sweep at 39 weeks then again at 40 weeks nothing happened, ended up with failed induction at 40+2 as things were deteriorating and dr wanted baby out.

I had one on my due date and nothing really happened. My second was at 41+1, 2 cm dilated when I went in, she gave a good rummage because I told her that I desperately didn't want to have to be induced, walked out of the hospital and DS dropped and fully engaged, within an hour I was in labour. I think that if you're already on the brink, it'll nudge you over the edge, but if bubs and your body simply aren't quite ready, it won't.

Hi there! I had a sweep on my due date and I was 3cm dilated. I went into spontaneous labour 4days later and was 9cm by the time I reached the hospital 45mins later! You'd hope that something so unpleasant as the sweep would work!!! Good Luck!

Sweep did not work for me. I have tried everything with number 1 - walking, bumpy ride, Ravi's curry, pineapple, acupuncture, raspberry leaf tea and some on-on-one with DH ;)). DD was born 40w6days - now I really belive they will come out whenever they are ready :) X
