Hi Ladies,

My Lo. is 7 months old and BF or EBF , i give her formula once a day ( she wont take more than 50 ml )

I skipped the puree stage and DD luvs to hold steamed apples , sweet potato etc , she doesnt eat much but Im not really that concerned about it.

She would poop atleast 2-3 times till last week and now all of a sudden she has gone without poop for 2 days.
i tried the tummy massage , warm water dip etc...

nothing seems to help.

HELP...

At 7 months old, my son never had a poo for 10 days. We took him to the Dr on day 7... I was breastfeeding which the Dr confirmed was rarer than formula fed babies that can experience this more commonly. He felt our sons tummy and it wasnt hard (if you flick your thumb and finger against it you should feel a hollow ish sound) - He then had a poo on the 11th day and continued without one for 10 days again so 1 poo in 21 days! We were besides ourself with worry but I also had a friend of mine whose baby was 8 days and its fairly common... Hes never had any issues since and the Dr said he's just changing, thats all. You can dry undiluted prune juice or any of the cheap sugary fuit juices that can aslo help some babies depending on how old they are... Good luck....

MIne is the same but only 4 months. She was doing 3 or 4 a day and then overnight went to one every 2 or 3 days. My Paed said it was because the older they get, the more efficient their digestive systems get, especially if they are BF'd, as there isnt much to get rid of anyway. As long as she doesnt seem in discomfort, have a hard belly or seem to be straining, shes OK!

well, keep a stock of wet-wipes and a change of clothes on hand, because when it comes, it'll be a big one! Seriously though, unless she's showing obvious discomfort and straining with nothing coming out, then don't worry too much and let nature take its course... because it will, one way or the other!
