Newdubaimomma , congrats n well done on the scan.....prayers n best wishes ahead for you. Tomorrow I will report about my appointment. Feeling strange, though this is my second appointment but in my 1st appointment we just discussed different procedures n options.Dr told me when we are ready to be evaluated n also to start treatment,we go back to the clinic. So lets hope it goes well tomorrow as it would be my CD12.

Hi dear, I had my first appointment with Dr. Karunakar Marikinti yesterday and he was quiet informative. As it was our first appointment with him, he did explain the complete procedure for a normal, IUI and IVF pregnancy. I had taken along with me all my previous test results and he was happy on the results. Had an HSG done earlier to confirm that I had no blocks. Got my ultrasound and blood test done yesterday. I was on CD9 yesterday and follicles are 12mm size which he told is good enough. Dr suggested to try for natural IUI without the initial medication. He advised to look out for ovulation using prediction kit and let him know when it turns positive so that he can schedule the next appointment for IUI. So far, everything went well and I really hope this would help. Got a call from Clinic yesterday evening to meet Dr on Monday as he got our blood results and he needs to discuss something. Just worried if there is any issue in blood results as I am taking medicine for thyroid as well. Praying8, how was your appointment with Monika ? nehks , Fakih and Bournhall had best reviews overall and my experience was good with them till now. My gynaec had suggested Dr.Marikinti at fakih so I have been to him yesterday for consultation. Prayers & wishes for everyone!

Nehks: I had consults at Bourn Hall and Fakih in Dubai, both seemed amazing, I had trouble choosing! There are other more affordable clinics but they have lower success rates. Praying 8 good luck at your appt! I have an appt tomorrow as well, to see how the stims are affecting me. Day 4 today!

Hello everyone, I have my appointment on Sunday with dr Monika.will be doing all work up to decide whether to start the treatment now. Newdubaimomma, thinking of you...hope you are doing well. Nekhs, welcome dear...I m sorry as I cant recommend any clinic in Dubai based on my own experience but from different forums n knowing few friends who have been getting treatments from different clinics...I think Fakih n Bourn Hall people do speak of very high.Though I believe its a personal experience too.Wishing you all the best. Rose ,when are you going to have your appointment?

So I started stims today, they gave me my first shot in the office, I'm taking the rest at home although you can go back to the officer daily for injections If you prefer. I am taking Merional 225 units subcutaneously once daily. On Sunday I go back for repeat labs and u/s to see if meds need to be adjusted.

Hello everyone, Newdubaimomma,I was thinking about you n here I see your post....Best wishes n prayers for you dear.will be waiting for your next post regarding the meds. Sharoniouz , that sounds painful n that too for over a week....my God.The good thing is that they sedate during the procedure. Newdubaimomma,I have heard about her from a close friend who recently took her treatment n right now she is 4 months pregnant.

Of course you are sedated during the actual retrieval, but it was the recovery that was quite painful for me to the point that I had to take pain killers. I couldn't sit properly and had a very hard time using the bathroom for over a week after. I don't want to scare you with pain stories, but I wish I had been told about it so I knew what to expect. I guess I have been blessed with relatively light or no cramps ever during my cycles and haven't given birth yet, so I had nothing to compare it off of.

I froze my eggs at Fakih Clinic in AD. My doctor started out as Dr. Fakih but then I changed to Dr. Monica who was much more informative and caring than Dr. Fakih (sorry, but I didn't really get a good vibe off of him. Maybe it's because he was so busy with non stop patients or it could be because I only completed half the cycle so they couldn't charge my insurance the full amount for IVF, ha!). You'll go through the same process as I did but continue after the egg retrieval -- which is the most painful part of the whole process... well, other than delivery. The shots aren't too bad (first one is the worst) and you'll get used to all the blood tests. I believe for a first timer you will be expected to join the little seminar that they have every Tuesday. That'll give you a clearer picture of the whole process. Most importantly: Don't be afraid to ask any question you have! If you don't ask, they will think you already know everything. I developed BV (an imbalance of vaginal bacteria) during the process because my body reacts badly to latex (used to cover the internal ultra sound machine) and other instruments being inserted 'down there' and that freaked me out, but Dr. Monica was able to take care of it all.

Hi Praying! No we are doing short protocol, from what I understand that is what Fakih usually does. I believe it is 30,000aed for everything, including medications.

Newdubaimomma, yeah wish we all be blessed soon. Same here,no doubt that we have only one option ivf.I think IUI is only recommended when its confirmed that tubes are not blocked,as I had to get my HSG(tube test) done first. Best of luck Newdubaimomma for your expected periods n the cycle ahead.

I think super high BMI is no good, but 31 is fine!! ? we all have success! Rose usually if there is no defect found a dr would recommend 3 IUIs, then if those fail then move on to ivf. We need ivf for sure, have done it before so that wasn't an issue. I'm waiting for my darn period to start! Hoped it would be today but no such luck.

And please tell me is weight so much of an issue? As I asked the dr n she told me that we can start the treatment at my BMI (31) But I feel I should atleast bring down to 29..... The dr told me that they are so much concerned about weight if the cause of infertility is PCOS or deranged insulin resistance. I am trying so hard to lose some weight n also worried if I am wasting time as I am approaching 37.though one month doesn't make a big difference...Hope so.

Hello everyone n welcome Newdubaimomma n Rose25.... I am so glad to c ur replies here n definitely will b a great support for us all.Newdubaimomma,I haven't yet received any details about medication.I just had a very short appointment with dr ,in my case as its tubal blockage so ivf is the only option.I asked about mini ivf n dr told me that they would like to do my baseline hormones n scan on the start of cycle n decide about the protocol as those tests will help indicate how will be the response. Best of luck my dear Newdubaimomma.May this be the best of your cycle. Rose25,I think the investigations protocol are different according to your diagnosis. But initially SA for male partner n baseline hormones,a pelvic scan or could be an hsg...are enough investigations.

Hello everyone, Good to join ths thread. I have got an appointment with dr.karunakar @ fakih dubai. Jus wondering if there would be initial study done by dr before suggesting ivf. I have been to few other gynaecs and we found no issues with ovulation and SA of my husband. What are the inital tests given before suggesting ivf.

We are doing ivf at Fakih ivf in Dubai in February! Very excited to see this thread so we can support each other! Praying have you received any details about what medications or protocol you will be on? I just heard 2 days of down regulation starting CD2, followed by stims. My past ivf cycles were much longer than that. I'm a bit confused....
