Hi Ladies, I am a first time mom, almost 21 weeks along due in Nov (Nov 7 to be exact!). I'm glad this forum has been created- thanks ClareJLT! I've been seeing Dr Elsa since week 6 and plan to deliver at City.I love her and the hospital and can't be happier! I did my 12 week NT scan and my 20 week scan (great results and amazing 4D technology) with Dr George at Nine Medical (can't recommend him enough, he's a great doctor!) as Dr Elsa outsources all scans to there. Regarding delivery, I am torn with delivering back home in the States or here in Dubai. Given I just moved here and don't know too many people, etc. Even though it would obviously be easier delivering here, it would be great to be able to be back home as well. So far, we have bought the furniture, bedding, decor for the nursery and bought our stroller (we went for the Bugaboo - love it!). Now I am just looking into where my DH and I can register for our birthing/antenatal classes and figuring out if we want to engage a Doulas help. Also, I have been taking prenatal yoga and pilates classes at Zen yoga since last week. They have been great! I highly recommend! Hope that helps!

Hi Thankyou for the info Clare, il be popping into the virgin store soon to look into those dvd's too.. so far iv been really lazy . As for the triple marker, the results might come in any time today so im trying not to think about it too much. You girls probably had the double marker test, since its done from 12 to 14 weeks, that's around when the NT scan is done. Silly me, I kept putting mine off since i was too scared to do it. I have not bought anything yet, not sure where to start looking, plus were not sure about the gender either. I am still 18 weeks so no 20 week scan for me yet :) may I ask where did you get the scan done from Clare? As for the hospitals I hope i will be able to find some place il be comfortable with, the brief visit to Latifa yesterday did not leave me very happy yesterday, although the management desks were almost empty and I did not deal with anyone there, the two ladies on the customer service desk just kept chattering between themselves and seemed downright rude, I may be wrong but that's the impression I got. Goodluck to you both for your trips back home. I might not be able to go back for a visit so its going to be one long summer for me. Sigh :)

Morning ladies! The yoga dvd I’ve got is called Prenatal Yoga with Desi Bartlett. Like you lilypad, I’d never really done yoga before but it’s a really nice easy, gentle dvd but you do feel like you’re getting a good stretch out and it’s pretty relaxing too. There’s a few others in the Virgin Megastore at Dubai Mall, but I just went pot luck on this one. I went for my 20 week scan last week which was all ok and baby growing nicely. It’s amazing how thorough they are over here, I don’t think you’d get that in the UK. It’s nice to know that every little body part is working fine I actually fly back to the UK this Wednesday but just for a week and then I think we’ll go away for a week somewhere in July, but other than that we’re here in Dubai, sorting out the nursery and buying everything. I didn’t realise how much there is to buy out there, it’s quite overwhelming. How long are you going back to the UK for Awayfromhome? Have either of you started looking at or chosen your pram yet? That scares the life out me! I’m not sure about the triple test either, I had the NT test done at 12 weeks with the blood tests etc and think they might have called that the triple test aswell. Lilypad – try not to worry about your results though (easier said than done I know) but it will only be a short while before you find out the results and then you can move on. I’ve actually heard good things about Latifa hospital lately and if you’re options on your medical insurance are limited, I think that’s probably a good bet.

I haven't actually met with Dr. Elsa yet and am with another Dr at Dubail Mall who is fantastic but unfotunately doesn't deliver. Dr. Elsa has such a long waiting list so I am with her from 28 weeks. It's true what you say though Clare, I think many dr.s out here are very good and it is just important that you are happy with the one you go with. Lilypad, I'm not sure about the triple test, I had teh NT test done at 12 weeks with the blood test and I seem to remember they were calling this the triple test as they were testing for three different chromosones. Have you girls had your 20 week scan yet? Are you both staying here over the summer? I'm going back to the UK for a while, can't wait!

Hello Clare and Awayfrom home, yes good to see we have our own November thread finally. Clare can you please recommend any good yoga workout, as in the name of the DVD that you are doing, iv been wanting to do yoga but have never done it before so completely clueless about what and what to look for. You both are lucky to have found doctors you are comfortable with and like, I am still not sure where I am going to deliver. I would prefer Dr Elsa as heard so many good things about her but unfortunately my insurance would not cover that much. :( I went into Latifa today to ask about the maternity packages but turned out there was no management on desks since it was an OFF day. Have to ask have any of you girls been recommended or already done the double or triple marker test? I got tested today and worried about what the result might be.

Hi lilypad and Awayfromhome 15, we've got our own little baby group right here now which is exciting :) As for exercise, I'm not doing anything too extreme, but am finding yoga really really relaxing. I just chose a yoga pregnancy dvd from the Virgin store and do that a couple of days a week, then on the other days I swim or do a step and gentle boxing routine on the wii. It's all fun stuff which helps aswell. I am seeing Dr Shiva at Medcare and have been since the beginning of my pregnancy and will do right through to the labour. We didn't have much choice unfortunately as we're on Daman insurance, which doesn't have great hospital options in Dubai (it's better in Abu Dhabi apparently). However, Dr Shiva is really lovely and I enjoy seeing her every four weeks. Awayfromhome - that's great you're going to Dr. Elsa though, I've heard really good things about her. I think with regards to choosing though, just go with who you feel comfortable with. Generally I think the healthcare is great over here, we're all in good hands.

Hi both, I was thinking the same about no November board, thank you for starting one ClareJLT. I'm currently 18 weeks with my first too. Hope you're both feeling well, it's true about the increased energy in second tri. I'm swimming every other day which is really relaxing. I'm delivering in City Hospital with Dr. Elsa. x

Hi lilypad, that's fantastic, for a while I was thinking I was the only one giving birth in November - at least the maternity ward would have been empty though! How are you feeling now you're in the second trimester? I have so much more energy now and am back to exercising and eating healthier, although I sleep all the time, but actually that's pretty great, I'm definitely not complaining about that :)
