ClareJLT - I would love to look into the maxicosi, but I am unsure if the bugaboo had a carseat adapter for maxicosi. Do you know? Yes Aurora06, the MaxiCosi (Pebble, at least) is compatible with the Bugaboo Cameleon. You need to buy a set of adapters and these can be found at Just Kidding on SZR. I hope that this helps.

Hello everyone! I'm due on 6th November (this will be DD #2 for me - DD #1 was born 1st November 2010). I did start a due November thread some months back but it was a bit early and I didn't receive any replies. I'm glad to read that this thread is an active one though.

Hi ladies! Hope everyone is doing well. Just entered my 26th week on wednesday - inching closer and closer to the so-called dreaded third trimester. This heat is probably the worst thing I have been dealing with so far.....omg it is unbearable when you are pregnant! I had a question about car seats (again) - does anyone know where I can find Britax infant seats? I have heard great things about the safety features, etc. ClareJLT - I would love to look into the maxicosi, but I am unsure if the bugaboo had a carseat adapter for maxicosi. Do you know? Welcome Hana and Scratch! So glad to have you here. It will be a nice sized group of us when we meet at the end of August :) Louve - Rome must have been great! My DH and I went there in march and I found out I was expecting literally the night before we flew out, so it was a really nice trip! Wow! It seems like lots of us are delivering at City! That's reassuring in terms of my decision to deliver there. Are there any new cravings this week? My biggest is probably peanut butter and banana sandwiches on toasted brown bread!

hi all - this is my first post - due 10th nov with bub number 2. have been checking in occasionally and sharing same heartburn (as with preg 1) and lots of energy in 2nd trimester...not looking forward to 3rd trimester and being exhausted running after a toddler. a few ladies mentioned family coming to stay and i just wanted to pipe in and give my experience.....we had my MIL with us for the birth of our first and i wanted to maybe advise first time mums to set boundaries with any family that may be staying with you. while the help was amazing and we did, in hindsight, need it (especially as DS was on the b**b constantly), i wish i had set some boundaries with my MIL beforehand. little things like, when the b/r door is shut, don't come in (as i felt self conscious at first about BF) or the biggie - please don't come to the hospital until invited. upon hearing the good news my MIL rushes straight in and i was only just out of the delivery suite, still feeling a bit overawed and really felt DH and i needed more time to bond alone with the new addition before handing him over. this time around we have my mum which i think will be beautiful, especially as she knows me so well and can look after DS. just because you are new to the whole mum thing don't let well meaning family get in the way of the most precious beautiful moments between you, your DH and little bundle. we're delivering at american w dr raj and looking at doulas - super excited about DS having a little brother or sister :) hope you all are coping in the heat - it's yuck! at least last time i was working and exercising lots..i envy the girls doing prenatal pilates/ yoga/ classes etc.

Hi everyone, Hope you and your lovely bumps are coping in the heat. Up until about a week ago I seemed to be coping with the heat better than before I was even pregnant which was strange. That's all changed now though and everyday is a bit more of a struggle :( I am starting ante-natal classes next weekend (just as I turned 28 weeks) at HealthyBay Polyclinic – really looking forward to learning something about babies! Hana, welcome. There’s such a lovely group of us on here now and I cannot wait to meet everyone end of August/beginning of September. I don’t work either, so know what it’s like to be stuck at home. You just have to make an effort to go out and about every day and keep yourself busy. I love living in Dubai and am excited about having a baby here as I think there are so many family friendly places and it will be an easy place to entertain yourself and child. I am still getting heartburn and might buy some Gaviscon soon, although I have found that drinking a glass of milk really helps. Louve – great suggestion about positioning your pillows so that you can rest your bump in between. Have you thought about buying a massage table with a hole in the middle to put bump into rather than your face. Just kidding, although I am sure they probably do exist. I think it would feel amazing though :( About people visiting, I feel the same as you. I really wanted a good chunk of time just with my husband and new baby to settle and adjust and luckily we’ll have until Christmas (so if baby arrives on time, we’ll have about 6-7 weeks by ourselves which I think will be perfect), then we have my parents in law arriving a few weeks later in January, so it will be a busy time but by then I might be craving a break and in need of their help! I totally agree though and wouldn’t want anyone around for the birth, I want it to be as low a key time as possible with just my husband there for support. Like you say though if you were in your home country, people would pop around for brief periods and then leave, but living abroad we have to accommodate people for longer than a few hours when they want to visit. It’s a tough one and I’d also like to hear other people’s opinions on this.

Hi all, Hope you are doing well. I feel quite big these days - cannot believe what a hippo I've become!!! The nice Italian food may have played a role... Welcome to the group and to Dubai Hana. I am def up for meeting at some point. Just got back from Rome and will be traveling home for most of August. But end of August is good to meet up. Thanks Silkie and Awayfromhome on the info regarding ante-natal classes. I guess I will join you Awayfromhome at the classes in September. Regarding pineapple, all I've heard is that pineapple can help kick-start labour, but only if you eat something along the lines of 6-7 whole pineapples in a day. And I have also heard that women who have tried this say it doesn't work. Would be interesting to get your doctor's explanation on it. I had severe heartburn a couple of nights in Italy. Luckily, they haven't been here since. For those of you flying out - I know most airlines allow us to travel up until a month before the due date. However, I was asked on my way back to Dubai and was happy to show them the fit-to-fly note from my doctor. I will be getting a note for my next flight as well even though it is still earlier than the airlines require.. Better save than sorry. Just thought I'd let you guys know, so you are prepared. Claire - I have slept with a pillow for quite some time now. It helps to have it between your legs and under the belly for support. Some times I also place a couple of pillows with a gap between them. This way, I can lie on my stomach because it fits into the gap. This has been great for me as I love to lie on my stomach and read. On a different note, mom and mom-in-law are itching to know when they can visit and meet the new bundle of joy. At first we told them they could come for Christmas. However, this didn't fit any of them and they are both stating they would prefer to be there for the birth. I have made it clear that we don't want visitors for the birth and for a period of time after the birth. I believe we need to settle in as a family and get to know the little one before we have full-time house guests. However, not sure how much time we need. How are you guys handling this? Would be so much easier to be in the same country where people could just pop by for an hour or so...

Hi all Nice to see our group is growing & is active! ClareJLT - The heartburn was bad for 2-3 days last week, but thank god, its gone, atleast for now... Just having my dinner a bit early now :-) I dont have pains in hips while sleeping but i have them sitting in office at a stretch for 1-2 hrs... its difficult. At night, its my calves hurting a lot & i cant sleep properly - they are absolutely fine during the day ! Welcome Hana I hope you can cope with the heat & get settled here soon! Which doc are you referring to @ City hosp? I'm planning my delivery there too, but havent started seeing a doc there.. Will do so after 28 weeks. Hi Awayfromhome15 Guess the heat is bothering everyone. My AC temp is @ 20 deg at night - it makes me cold... if i keep it on on 21 or 22, i feel hot! & its not the numbers troubling me - even if my hubby changes the temp without my knowledge, i feel the same... Not sure what to do! To all Its strange that many of you are craving for pineapple - since initially my doc told me to avoid papaya & pineapple during pregnancy! I'm not a fan of pineapple anyways, but was just wondering how come all of you are having it... Since i read so many positive reviews about City hosp, i'm just wondering its worth to know if docs @ City are pro-natural or pushing for c-s? Good luck to all those who are fasting & hope this Ramadan brings more blessings to all of us, our babies & our families!

Hello everyone, Hope everyone is doing well and coping with the heat ok, I'm finding it quite hot now and need the ac so low at night. Welcome Hana, I've had bad heartburn too but not for the whole time, but need to make sure I eat my evening meal early otherwise it's bad, however I then get really hungry so can't sleep - just can't win! I'm delivering at city too, I went on the tour yesterday and really liked it so hopefully a good choice. I know what you wan about the non working thing, it's quite hard to find part time work too. I'm a teacher so finished at the end of June for summer and won't be going back in September so I'm around. I'm going home to the UK on Wednesday for 5 weeks, but back at the end of August, we could meet at one of the coffee mornings. ClareJLT- don't worry I have a major sweet tooth as well as the pineapple craving. I am an absolute chocoholic. I thought I'd cracked it in the first 12 wks as didn't want anything sweet just salty, savoury, spicy foods, which all leads to boy and we're having a boy. However my sweet tooth is back, whole bag of cadbury giant buttons to myself yesterday! Louve - you may have found out now but you don't need to pre-register for the antenatal classes at city, just turn up, we're going to start in Sept when I'm back as thery're on an 8 wk cycle and week 1 will be first Tuesday in September. I was going to go to health bay, but thought as I'm delivering at city, probably makes sense to go there. Lilypad- I read on another post you may be fasting so I hope it's not too hard for you and good luck with it. ToriaB- hope you're starting to feel a little but more settled now. Good luck over the next few weeks everyone and I hope to meet some of you at a coffee morning when I'm ack from UK!

Hi Everyone, I hope this post finds everyone in good health and spirits. I just recently stumbled across this website a few nights ago. One of many sleepless nights that I have been having due to the CRAZY heartburn that I have been enduring. Though, having said that, I finally gave in yesterday and bought me some gaviscon and I wish Id done it sooner. I had the best sleep Iv had in five months! So for anyone out there suffering the same, give it a go! You may not look back! Well, I should probably introduce myself. All my friends and family call me Hana. I am originally from New Zealand. Ever since I met my husband Iv been moving from country to country as he is in the hospitality industry and has very itchy feet! We've been in Dubai about 3 months now and just before coming here I found out I was pregnant. It wasnt planned but we shall accept this as a blessing. Im currently just at home at the moment which is new for me. I have never not worked since I was 16 but Im having trouble finding a job here. No respones and if there are they would prefer someone not pregnant. :/ Quite disappointing because as a result Im struggling to meet people. Or make friends. So anyone else out there feeling lonely you have yourself a companion! Im due on November 30, which is not too far away! My next scan is scheduled for Monday which Im excited about so I can confirm the gender. Hubby's work recommended City Hospital so that is what we stuck with. Im hoping to meet some other moms to be. Would be great to chat to people who know what Im going through etc. And hopefully occupy some of my time! I have plenty to spare! Hear from you soon! :) Hana

Hi everyone, Hope you're all feeling good and coping in the heat. That's interesting about the fruit cravings, at least pineapple and mango is nice and healthy. Mine is simply just bread and chocolate (always had a sweet tooth and nothing seems to want to stop that now!). aurora06 - we bought a maxicosi pebble car seat from Mothercare Dubai Mall (they had been out of stock for several weeks but now have them in again). Some friends from home in the UK recommended this carseat and it has great reviews/very safe etc. Also, that's great you've registered with HealthBay for your antenatal classes. We're doing the classes in August and a friend of mine is registered on the ones in September. Their classes get a great review, so I'm looking forward to the classes and learning everything 'baby'. Lilipad - glad to her you've registered with Latifa. I am sure it's a great choice and I've also read good things about the hospital on this forum. I don't think you'll have anything to worry about. Louve - thanks for letting me know about the Braxton hicks, it doesn't sound like that was what I was getting. Must have just been some serious stretching going on inside that day. You'll be in Rome now, so hope you have a fantastic holiday and enjoy all of that gorgeous Italian food. silkie16 - Yes that definitely sounds like heartburn. I get it every so often and cannot seem to find a way to get rid of it. I just keep drinking lots of water as it disguises it slightly. I have over the past couple of nights struggled to sleep because my hips hurt so much. Apparently it's because my hips are shifting to prepare for the birth etc and then when you sleep on your side, they move out of place causing discomfort. Tonight I need to experiment with pillows under me in different positions to try and relieve the pain. Has anyone else had this? Enjoy your evening ladies :) edited by ClareJLT on 18/07/2012

I missed to add, last 2-3 days i've started to have this burning feeling from inside (is it called heartburn?) ... Happens usually after the meal... anyone else having this? Good afternoon ladies! Hope you all are doing fine!! Louve - i agree with you on being excluded in the old friend circle for activities - Oh! u cant do this, u cant do tht... as if they want to have all the adventurous plans immediately! ok, i understand we need to be careful, but we can atleast accompany if not participate!! Regarding Ante Natal classes @ City - i was told we dont need to register, just go there, pay & attend... but its always better to re-confirm. Btw, there are ante natal classes on Saturday morning (depending on your trimester) free of charge @ NMC specialty. Since most of us here are in 2nd trimester, it would be 2nd Saturday of every month... Once you enter 3rd trimester, i think its 3rd Saturday every month. No weird/new food cravings for me yet... ! Hi Lilypad It was wonderful to chat with you on gmail. For other ladies who wanna chat, my id is apjani16 at gmail dot com. Add me before its edited by mods! :-) I've already done my 20-week scan now & doc said all is fine! Thank you God! :-) Hoping all will be well in the coming months too! Have a wonderful week (almost weekend) everyone & Ramadan Kareem to all! Oh yes - reduced working hours for all of us who are working... nice, isnt it?

Hi Ladies, Loving the activity in here! Toria, don't worry about being new to Dubai. We have all been there and know exactly what you are going through. I felt the worst part was that all your usual support is out the window. No one at home can relate to your new experiences and their lives just continue without you. I found you have to be so much more active - both in finding a new network but also in maintaining your old who have stopped including you in things. It seems to be happening with the pregnancy as well. People just assume you don't want to participate in stuff cause your pregnant. annoying. At least let me make the choice - I'm pregnant not dead! ClaireJLT, my first (felt) Braxton Hicks came after a long day at IKEA. I was really tired in my back and noticed a sort of tightening around the back and stomach. In addition the stomach became really hard like a football. I don't know if you felt was a BH, but I can also get a twitching feeling if the baby has placed herself in a weird position and moves around. Aurora, we are also looking for car seats at the moment. I think this is one of the more annoying purchases. The experts recommend you don't buy used car seats or use rentals as even small bumps could have potentially ruined the seat. The bugaboo stroller only fits with infant car seats which means that you have to buy a new toddler model later on. I've heard the best ones are Maxi Cosi with Isofix for easy access in the car. Lilypad, sorry you still feel a bit uncomfortable about hospitals etc. For what its worth I haven't heard any bad mentioning about Latifa in any of the threads I've read in here. Some even swear to Latifa even though they have insurance that cover the other options. In beginning I was craving fresh orange juice. Also, I have had cravings for specific dishes and sodas you can only get at home and not in Dubai. That sucks! Luckily it has passed. I don't have any particular cravings at the moment. I try to eat a lot of fruit as snacks to keep away the hunger. On a different note, does anyone know if you have to register for the antenatal classes/birth preparing classes at CITY on Tuesday nights? Anyone of you considering taking those? Right - need to start packing - off the Rome tomorrow for vacation. Can't wait to be back in Europe and in normal weather! I'm up for a coffee morning when I'm back July 25.

Hi everyone, Big Hello to all the new comers, This is getting one busy November thread. Seems like most of you ladies will be delivering at City. I have been out of action mostly cz of the tension related headaches and sleepless nights I was getting due to not being able to decide on a hospital. Have finally registered at Latifa, But still very confused if its the right choice or not. :( Silkie - have you decided on a hospital? Hope to catch you online on gtalk soon. So I am getting addicted to 7 up and mangoes. The mangoes should be healthy but the 7up is worrying me :(. Who else is getting nasty food cravings.

Hi Ladies, I haven't been on the forum for quite a while due to travel, but, it's great to see that our group has grown! A coffee morning would be great in August/September! As I mentioned before I am new to Dubai and it would be wonderful to meet you ladies! :) Hmm let's see if I can catch up on some of the topics discussed in my absence: Weight gain: I have gained 12 pounds so far (23 and a half weeks - DD Nov 7). I know it's normal, but, eek! I do eat a little bit more in the carb dept as compared to before pregnancy. My newest obsession is kashi cereal and soy milk. So, I guess that is the biggest culprit. :) Kicks: I don't feel too many certain kicks, but do feel flutters. At my 20 week scan, she was kicking and moving around the whole time without me feeling anything, so I believe the reason may be the placenta placement as well. Purchases: I think I mentioned in an earlier post that I have bought nursery furniture, clothes, decor, bottles, other essentials etc. And I also bought the Bugaboo stroller (when I was back in the States in June). I guess the only thing left to decide on is the carseat. Any recommendations? I think was too scared that I would be overwhelmed and stressed later on in the pregnancy, that I just bought everything early! But something tells me as a first time mom, I will still be freaking out as we get closer. :) Hospital: I have been seeing Dr Elsa at City since week 6, but we have yet to take the hospital tour - I think we will go there this coming Friday (20th). I'm so sorry to hear about some of the problems regarding picking the right hospitals and doctors. We are already stressed out as we get closer to our due dates, I'm sure that doesn't help :( Antenatal classes - We have decided to register with Health Bay Polyclinic for the antenatal classes in september. Working out - I used to run/cardio and do weight training/pilates 4x a week before pregnancy, but now I have just been sticking to prenatal pilates and yoga with mall walking as my cardio. ;) I think that's it for me.

Hi everyone, Clare JLT & Layla, that's funny about the weight as I was 2 pounds heavier this morning than yesterday morning! I didn't think I had eaten more than usual, but I think it happens like that. I think in the third tri it will be more as well due to water etc. I'm trying not to worry to much, as you said Clare if you're comfortable that's all that matters. Also I feel if I am hungry then I must need to eat! I have bread every day now which I didn't before. I'm loving toasted sandwiches, my main addiction however has been pineapple, I can get through a whole one in a day. I seem to be getting really bad heartburn when I go to bed, so I'm trying to eat earlier in the evening now which I find helps. Re coffee, I think our best option is an organised coffee morning ad I saw admin wrote on the October board saying they weren't allowed to organise they're own, so I'll join you in sept if you girls meet before. Layla, I've heard lots of times that if the placenta is on the front you don't feel anything for quite a while, I still only feel mine when I'm lying down, never when I'm walking around, I was worried about that but everyone is different I guess, it must have been reassuring to have your 20 wk though. Sleep well everyone

Hi Ladies, I haven't logged on for a few days- thank you for the welcome messages- great to see so much activity on here! Hi Silkie16, that's nice that our due dates are so close! Glad to hear that you enjoyed the tour at City- thx for the info re the costs of the ante natal package there. I think we'll go for the tour this weekend- I'm looking forward to it- it will be good to have a better idea of what to expect. Hi ClareJLT- I know what you mean about the gender-neutral colours- they are all a bit drab- it will be nice to buy some brighter stuff once the LO arrives! Re weight gain, I was doing ok for the first trimester but also seem to have put on quite a lot in the last week or so- probably because I'm much hungrier now so am eating more- especially toast! Glad to hear I'm not alone :-)

Hi everyone, I love looking on the forum now as there are quite a few of us and it's really nice to hear what everyone is going through :) Welcome Layla2012 - I'm sure that placenta will move soon and then you'll feel lots of kicks. That's nice to hear that you're also going to wait until baby arrives to find out the gender. We've been buying lots of neutral things, but hopefully shortly after the baby arrives, we'll rush out and buy lots of suitably blue or pink outfits, otherwise it will just assume the world is filled with the colour cream and nothing else! Toriab82 - I haven't been to any of coffee mornings for expectant mums yet, but would love to go along to one if anyone else is soon. It does look like that's going to be the easiest way for us to all meet up along the way as you can't give your name and contact details on this forum. Louve - what do braxton hicks contractions feel like exactly? Just on Saturday I had a very uncomfortable feeling very low down in my stomach, felt like something was really twisting up inside of me. I had about 3 sets of them and then it stopped and haven't had it since. Baby has been kicking lots as normal, so I am not worried about anything, just curious as to what the b hicks feel like. Re. weight gain, I've suddenly put on a few more pounds over the last few days, not sure if it's overeating, baby or water retention. It's quite disheartening looking at the scales, but I guess as long as you feel comfortable then it's ok. Awayfromhome15 - I miss my running too and was doing it up until I got pregnant nearly every day, then for the first three months of the pregnancy I felt really ill and practically gave up exercise all together. I am already looking forward to getting back into shape post pregnancy, ha ha. I am also hungry ALL of the time. Is anyone else eating more bread than ever before? I simply can't get enough of it!

Hey all Hoping you are all having a wonderful weekend! Hi Toriab82: City hospital has 'maternity tours' every Friday @ 11 am & 4 pm. They show you around the hospital with their facilities & what will happen where... you can ask questions for any doubts you have. Me & my hubby went there today & it was a nice exp. Now its 95% sure i'll deliver there. Its also a 15-20 min drive from our place but i think it should be fine. I'm saying 95% since the remaining 5% i'm keeping for Dubai hosp since i'll be talking to a gynaec in Dubai hosp (my frend knows someone working there) tomo or day after. Hi lilypad28 I'll definitely share my exp after my talk with the doc at dubai hosp, sorry i didnt get time to come online since i've added you. Hi Louve Wonderful you have found a good doc already. I'm booked with a gynaec outside for tomorrow since i asked the city hosp for consultation charge & its AED 500/- - looks high since i'm not covered by insurance for maternity. i'm 20+2 & havent done my 20 week scan yet!! So needed to hurry! I plan to take the city ante natal package once i reach 28 weeks so i'll be familiar with the doc who will be there during my delivery. To all ladies who are still looking - ante natal package @ City is AED 5500/- from week 12 & AED 3600/- from week 28. Have a wonderful Saturday ahead ladies! God bless us & our babies! :-)

Hi all, Haven't looked for a couple if days and wow, so many replies. Hope your all doing well. Welcome ToriaB. I completely understand how you feel, we moved here 2 years ago just after getting married and like lots of women I guess, it wasn't really my choice. I was so settled where we used to live in London and couldn't stand Dubai when I first got here so you're not alone. Lots of things are hard when you get here too, sealing with all the visa nonsense and changing your driving license etc. I don't know if you're working but I'm finished now as I'm a teacher so I finished at the end of term and not going back in sept. So if you ever want to meet up let me know. I'm going back to UK on 25th July and back at end if you want to meet up. No weird symptoms for me, but I do get very hot very quickly and finding the humidity so oppressive at the moment. I felt the baby move at 19 weeks, now 21 and can't really decide whether they're full on kicks or "flutters" but I see my tummy move, it's like a little alien in there! I'm scared of the whole thing and tending to bury my head in the sand rather than learning about it, there's so much to take on, but I guess we'll all muddle through. I'm planning to get tutorials from my sisters when I go home! Re weight gain, I have gained 13 pounds, 6kg's I think and I'm 21+2. I feel like this is alot, but fortunately, I didn't suffer from any morning sickness in my first tri, was just so hungry all the time so started to gain from the beginning. I also stopped running which I used to do alot at the start of my ivf cycle so I suppose not too bad. I am hungry all the time though! ToriaB- I'm at city and live in springs so our drive is 25-30 mins, I now it's quite far also my husband works in Deira so he has to come back to get me and then go if it happens when he's at work. Hopefully will be fine. Have a great weekend everyone!

Wow, what an activity :-) Welcome to Toriab82 and and Layla2012. Nice to see the group is growing. lilypad28: I was on the morning tour at City. Sorry you didn't have similar fun experience with awkward male questions :-) Silkie16: I just met my doctor at City this week, but I was really happy with the experience and will be sticking with her. Her name is Britt Clausson. I feels so good to finally having settled on doctor and hospital! Regarding weight It has been a bit of a struggle for me so far. Annoying too, as I have never had issues with my weight in my life before. I have gained 8 Kilos already at 23+3!!! I think it is due to the fact that I quit smoking a pack a day when I found out about the pregnancy. My BMI is still a healthy 22, so maybe the baby just wants some extra fat in store for breast feeding.... I am just hungry all the time... Sounds like you are all doing great and sticking to a normal weight gain. I am jealous! I don't have any particular symptoms such as warm feet or heart burn. But I have started to have Braxton Hicks contractions (spelling?) if I move around too much. The baby has been active for quite some time now. Felt butterflies and the muscle twitching feeling in week 15, the first kick in week 17 and my husband felt it on the tummy in week 19. If I have my laptop on my stomach, sometimes she can make it move. It is quite amazing and def. one of the greatest things about this whole experience. Respect to those of you who can keep the gender a surprise. We wanted to and then we went to the 12-week scan and completely changed our minds. Will probably go to a coffee morning at some point and think we may have to meet up there as a group. Just saw one of the other threads that it is against EW forum policy to make appointments...

Hi Ladies, Great to see a November group on here, and with so many mums to be! Glad to hear you are all doing well. I'm expecting my first on 25th November. Had my 20-week scan on Monday and all was fine, which is a big relief as I still haven't felt the baby move so was a tad concerned- apparently the placenta is at the front so is blocking the kicks. Hopefully I'll feel something soon! Have so far been seeing my GP but have an appt with Dr Ibrahim at City for next month, and am planning on delivering there as I've heard good things about it- although we haven't done the tour yet. I'm impressed with those of you who have started shopping already- we've not bought anything yet, although we're heading back to the UK for a week at the end of the month so might pick some things up there as hopefully it will be cheaper. Clare- like you we've also decided not to find out if it's a boy or girl until it arrives, although it might make the clothes shopping tricky! AW- I'll probably be returning to work after mat leave as my husband isn't working at the moment, although am hoping to negotiate some unpaid leave on top of the mandatory leave as I'm not sure how soon I'll feel ready to leave the baby. Maternity leave here is pitiful compared to the UK! Meeting for a coffee in September sounds good- would be great to get to know you all :)

Yes I am also feeling kicks - in fact felt butterflies from about week 17 but didn't know it was baby kicking until my doctor said that's what it was. I would say from about week 20 (now in week 23) it's been kicking a lot more and I can even see my tummy moving which is very strange. toriafsl - yes it's all totally mind boggling and every day I realise how little I know, but it's great to have the internet and EW forums to get information from. We've decided to wait until baby arrives to find out the gender. Congratulations to you finding out you're having a boy, that's exciting.

Toriab82 - Definitely feeling the baby kick, I think it started at 20 weeks for me. Feels amazing. Makes me smile everytime. silkie16 - Regarding the unfair treatment your friends received, I would like to discuss that further with you. Is it possible for you to talk to me on email or gtalk? If yes please email me on lilypad848 at gmail dot com

Hi lilypad28 Yes, i went through that thread (thanks!) for Dubai hosp. But still concerned as another friend's 2 friends had their deliveries there & were not happy. This friend even mentioned that we expats were given unfair treatment there. Dont know how far is that true! I'm considering City hosp as my other option - will be going for the maternity tour this Friday morning. Hi Toriab82 Welcome to Dubai, EW & congrats on your pregnancy! Since you are at home, probably you could read all the possible articles about pregnancy/birth to pass you time. Sure, it is difficult to adjust with you not knowing anyone much, but its worth a try. Also, some part time hobbies - learning painting/henna etc should help time pass by. Hi ClareJLT Yes, its a wonderful tradition, but to wait for the shopping till the baby arrives is gonna be difficult esp since i pass by all the cuttiieee baby shops with all the baby stuff! :-) But no option... :-) Me too i need a blanket at night, my AC temp is @ 19 deg is another story... :-) To all Hopefully all of you have already started feeling the kick / movement as most of us here are in 2nd trimester. I am feeling the kicks (i think!) or even something moving, & my other colleague who recently delivered, told me, what else could it be! So enjoy the little kicks! :-)

Welcome Toriab82! - It's difficult when you first arrive in Dubai, getting used to so many new and different things, let alone then finding out you're pregnant not long after arriving. I am sure it's a mixture of hormones and just getting used to your new life, but hopefully you'll end up loving being out here. I don't know anything about babies and with this being my first am so glad that there are other November mums out there to talk to - don't worry we're all in the same boat. silkie16 - what a lovely tradition your family buying all the initial baby things. I actually think that's really lovely and will make shopping for additional baby things really special after your new arrival makes his/her appearance. lilypad28 - can't believe you're still sleeping with a warm duvet, that's quite impressive. I think the heat has now kicked in for me and I need as much of my body outside of the bed sheet at night as possible :)
