How is everyone getting on? Nearly there now! I'm 35 weeks today. My first baby came at 35w 6d so I'm wondering if the second will be early or keep me waiting!? All very exciting. Remember i have lots of baby girls clothes if anyone wants to buy or swap for baby boys clothes.

I had the 32 week scan at Genesis with Dr. George - it checks the blood flow through the placenta to make sure the baby is growing properly - which all turned out to be fine. It also checks the length of the bones and general size to make sure it's on track. This is not a necessary scan, it's optional, I think they just advise you of it in case you want to do it. If nothing showed up on your earlier scans you wouldn't have had to do it :-)

Daquiri and LizaP - I just had my 32 week appt this week, but the OB didn't mention any special scans. Is the 32 week scan you're both talking about routine or in case of complications? I am curious now. (Good luck Liza!)

Hello All, I'm doing my 32 week scan next week. Just had a check up at the hospital over the weekend and all is well. Looks like I could well be having a natural birth this time, having had a c-section the first time round. Eek! I'm sure it will be fine! Hope everyone else is doing well.

Welcome BeBaMoJa, I am due my second baby in October. I gave birth to my first in mediclinic welcare hospital, the staff were excellent and we had a positive experience. A few of my friends have given birth in city hospital and really liked it so we did the tour last week. The hospital is lovely and much newer than welcare so we are definitely going to city this time. All the staff we met were great and the facilities are good. I don't have experience with medcare so i can't compare but my sister in law had a c section there and was very happy with them. We had our detailed scan 2 weeks ago and found out were having a boy! We're over the moon. I kept all of my daughters clothes so if anyone has a boy and is due a girl, would you like to clothes swap?? I haVe loads of lovely outfits and dresses all good brands like next, john Lewis and debenhams. It would be good to save a bit of money!!

Hello everyone, Just joined this site today as wanted to get more information about how things are in Dubai when it comes to pregnancy check ups, giving birth here, doctors, etc. so hope to learn from you lovely ladies here. I am due in early October with my 2nd baby. I had my first baby in my home country and had a good experience with giving birth considering my circumstances (cholestasis). I am seeing Dr Ivana in Medcare Hospital and am very satisifed with her as my gynecologist. She was the one who identified I had ectopic pregnancy last year (2nd prenancy) and removed my right tube as a result of it. I fully trust her but lately I have been thinking whether to deliver in Medcare or City Hospital (didnt check yet, but maybe dr Ivana can deliver there regarless if she is employed by Medcare). I have heard many positive reviews about both hospitals, but maybe someone has first hand experience in both or knows close friends who delivered in both and can compare the experience and share, please. Also, I was advised by Dr Ivana to go to Genesis to Dr George for 2nd trimester morphology ultrasound and can only say this doctor is amazing. To Chiara80, seems we were unfortunate to have similar experience and can only say stay strong and positive. Hello everyone, I am pregnant with our second baby due end of October. This is my third pregnancy, we lost our second baby so this all feel very careful and a bit scary. We went through the main hurdle of the nt scan and all is perfect with baby so that was just the best news. I am with dr Sant at Primavera Clinic and she has been nothing but amazing, very happy with my choice of delivering at City too even if I live right next to Zahra I want the safety of a well established hospital with good antenatal care for me and baby due to previous medical problems in previous pregnancies and deliveries. We are going for our anatomy scan next month and I guess we will find out the *** of the baby then but know baby is healthy we don't really mind either way :)

Hi All Hope everyone is doing well. Just an update on my 12 wk NT - all went great so I was very glad I went, the scans were amazing with Genesis, looking forward to my next app at 20 wks there :o) All going smoothly for me, no sickness or any symptoms whatsoever.....except for lots of angry spots on my face - not v. nice. Was wondering if anyone else has the same or any recommendations on what to use that they might have found worked good, thanks!

Hi Fe24, I go there for all of my appointments however they refer me to a foetal scan centre for my 12 week scan which I have next week where they test for the abnormalities. Looking forward to that so I can finally tell people I'm pregnant! Especially my employer as disguising my bump is becoming very difficult! I'm showing so early this time! Good luck with your scan :o)

Hi Liza, thanks for your response. I also have friends that used city and were very happy so I will probably go with them. Can you go there for your appointments or do you just transfer there to give birth? I'm going to mediclinic tomorrow for 12 week appointment, not been for 7 weeks so Im looking forward to a scan :-)

Hi Fe24, Myself and all of my friends here have used City Hospital to give birth. I know its not local to you, but I live in the marina so its not local for me either, but I've been really happy with the care there. There are plenty of good doctors to choose from as well. I don't know anything about Al Zahra but I've seen a post on here that talks about that hospital that might help you with your decision. Good luck with whatever you decide to do.

Hi, I am also due my second baby in October, we have a 16mth already so scarey stuff! I could do with some advice on hospitals. Dr Yamani was my doctor during my first pregnancy and birth, at welcare, and we were really happy with her. However she since moved to al zahra and my insurance is not yet accepted there. It's in process but they are negotiating over prices and are at a stand still so it might not ever happen! I went back to mediclinic knowledge village to confirm I'm pregnant but i didn't like the doctor so I've just been waiting for al zahra but now I'm 12 weeks i really need to find a doctor i like. We live in springs so would prefer something close, which was another plus for al zahra. Has anyone been to Saudi German? I can only find negative reviews, but they're all old, nothing recent. My other thought was to go back to mediclinic for a couple of months and hope al zahra confirms my insurance if not change doctor's then. Any recommendations? My brains doing overtime haha

Hello, i am currently seeing Dr. Ibrahim at City Hospital, i think he is great however so difficult to get an appointment with and not flexible at all. He only seems to do obstetrics appointments one or two days per week, with the other days as gyno days. Due to this i am looking to change doctors someone who is a little more flexible and personal. Does anyone have any experience on Doctor Britt Clausson? or perhaps recommend another clinic completely? i am travelling from Abu Dhabi so perhaps Saudi German or Al Zahra. Most importantly a doctor who is pro-natural. Any advise would be great. Thank you.

Hi everyone, I am also due mid October and this will be my 2nd child. I delivered the 1st at City Hospital so will be going back there and seeing Dr Deb who performed my c-section. I've got my 12 week scan in a few weeks so looking forward to that being over and just enjoying being pregnant. I've been lucky with both pregnancies and haven't really suffered from morning sickness. Just exhausted from chasing after my 15 month old toddler who is seriously teething at the moment! Looking forward to sharing stories as we progress… Hope you're all well

I am also due in October, the doctor asked me if I wanted the NT scan as I am over 35, I declined, because if it comes positive, it is not accurate, and would only worry me for the rest of the pregnancy as I am against abortion, but even if you were to terminate due to chromosomal abnormalities, is it legal in the UAE? I believe it is not legal, and would have to be done abroad.

Hi there, Congrats on your good news! I'm also due Mid October. Had my scan on Tuesday with Dr. Elsa at City - was 10 weeks, 2 days and all looked good and heard the hearbeat so it was lovely! All going well so far, no symptoms whatsoever or any sickness so I think I'm getting away lightly! I have the NT scan booked at the Fetal Medical Clinic soon but now I'm nervous on it and not sure whether to cancel. Are any of you doing it? Congratulations! We are probably due on or around the same date! On whether you should cancel or not - its really a personal decision. Have you thought through what you would do if the results show that there is something wrong? There are parents who don't want to know and feel that whatever is meant to be, will be; there are parents who want to know because they would terminate, if they get bad results; and there are parents who want to know so they can prepare mentally (and financially) for a potentially sick baby. First, I think you need to figure out which category you fall into and make the decision to take (or not take) the test based on that. I will be getting it done. I am doing it for peace of mind - I am not considered high risk (based on age and family history), but it will give me one less thing to worry about ..However I've discussed with my husband, and know what we would do if we get bad news.

Hi Daquiri. Congrat on your smooth goining pregnancy!!!! Due end Oct and have a Scan my NT scan booked on April 15. In my opinion, I would not cancel this scan as it is performed by an experienced radiologist and it is to assess your baby's risk of having Down syndrome and some other chromosomal abnormalities as well as major congenital heart problems. It is a test that can't be done after 14 weeks, keep this in mind if you decide to cancel it. Have a good day!

Hi all I'm expecting my first baby this October, very excited! I decided to go with Dr Yamini at Al Zahra Hospital. I was very impressed both with Dr Yamini and the hospital - I did a tour yesterday. I've had an 8 week scan so far where I heard the baby's heart beat and have my 12 week scan next week. Would be great to hear from some other ladies out there also expecting in October! Hey! Delivered my 2nd baby with Yamini and she is great. However, I am getting mixed reviewed on al Zahara hospital. Seems that the neonatal and the care in case of problem at delivery are not as good as in other private hospital. I think I am going to stick to welcare, american hospital or City hospital even if it means changing to another Dr. Anyway, all comments on Al Zahara hospital will be very much appreciated. All the best with your pregnancy! By the way, I am also expecting on Oct :-)))) edited by boumboum on 24/03/2014

I haven't settled on a doctor or hospital yet, but already had a scan to see the baby and hear a heartbeat. Surreal!
