My little one is 4 & half month already and just recently I started loosing hair. But I mean quite a bit. Is there anything to help with this or stop it? I have blinking hair everywhere and DH (who shaves his to cover up the receding hairline) just told me that I will soon look like him-charming, isn't he!

I have started to lose my hair 3 months after giving birth. DS is now 1 year old and I am pregnant again but the hair loss did not stop yet. I really hope the pregnancy hormones will kick in and bring back the beautiful, think and shiny hair I had during my first one. :)

Hi there. Yes this has happened both times with me and also with practically everyone I know. As I've heard it you lose approx 100 hairs a day anyway but when you are pregnant your hair becomes thicker and doesn't fall out as quickly as normal (I have personally noticed that all my hair, eyebrows, leg hair etc takes a lot longer to grow back when I'm pregnant)...then when you get the post-baby hair loss it looks a lot more but it's because you're losing your standard 100 hairs a day again, it's just because they're thicker than they were before that it looks worse. Once you have lost all the thickened hairs it will go back to normal. At present my daughter is nearly 6months old and I'm still shedding...but it does seems to be lessening. At it's worst when washing or brushing my hair.

It does stop ... mine feel out in clumps and I was pretty thin at the front. The regrowth has been awful (curly hair) and actually that was worse than being thin! Have just chopped my hair in half to let the regrowth catch up ... really wasn't something I was expecting.

I lost loads too and was freaking out that I'd end up with bald patches but as kiwispiers mentions I don't think you lose much at all, if any through the pregnancy (mine got stupidly thick) I think it lasted about 2 months for me.

doubt it if u will go bald, unless u were alread bald before pregnancy? :D But usually when the baby hits abt 6-7months the crazy hairloss should stop. My DD just turned 5 month.. i have been shedding hair so bad that u can find hair stuck in her neck at times!

what happens is that you don't lose any hair while your pregnant, and for a little bit after, so then a years worth of hair falls out at once, it seems worse than it is. Pretty much your hair is going back to how it was before you were pregnant, so you're not going bald :) If you think it is really bad though get your thyroid levels checked etc just to make sure nothing is out if whack.

grrrrr men can be so #&$# sometimes... It will pass....I had that too and it is due to hormonal changes. Try to eat less soy, eat more honey, pumpkin seeds, avocado and stick to a whole grain diet for a while - but no gluten. Avoid coffee , chocolate and tea. Avoid non organic dairy and meats ( it contains hormone) - Eat more healthy fats such as virgin coconut oil and fish oil. HTH. edited by MomOfTwins on 24/07/2011
