Does anyone have any experience with these? Apparently great for support, encouraging your uterus back to size and a method of regaining your waist/tummy postpartum. I'm not entirely convinced that I will be bothered wearing it after I give birth but it sounds great! Any constructive feedback greatly appreciated :)

@Ilovechoos, did you find that "Wink" gave you VPL under clothes lol ? More importantly do you think it made a difference? Sorry Gilly3 I just saw this post. I dont know if it made a difference, for me it just made me feel a lot more confident and a lot less like I was still pregnant - you know when you have just delivered the baby and you still look 4 months pregnant. Well the wink erased that whilst I was wearing it. It also made me feel a bit more stable in my core and gave me support in those first weeks after birth when you feel week and fragile around your middle. I totally recommend them if you just want to make yourself look and feel slimmer. They are like a great pair of spanx. Yes I did have a VPL but generally wore it with floaty skirts and tighter tops, or maxi dresses so not problem. I think you can get ones without the VPL thing. Edited to add I was just looking through blush and blooms website and I saw these slips http://www.blushandbloom.com/shop/shapewear/shapewear-slips/ I have one of these and I will not be without it now and I have lost my baby weight but its a great sucker inner and smoother. I have the half slip. Its good! edited by Ilovechoos on 24/05/2011

yep I worked in fashion for years too but styling yourself is harder. Do go and get the pics done, if your baby is sitting but not yet crawling it is the PERFECT time, and make sure you are in them too. A good photographer knows how to emphasise your best bits but if they don't, just make sure you are leaning forward (head closer to camera than hips) and looking up in all your photos (camera should always be above you)'>

I'm in Doha not Dubai otherwise would love to do some photos for you. After 9 months of interrupted sleep I am in dire need of a makeover so it would have been a nice swap.:(. BTW As a little pick me up, I recently realised that I needed to embrace my new post-baby figure (read new giant boobs and extra curves) and purchased an "online style guide" from myprivatestylist (dotcom) you fill out an online form with details of your body shape, bone structure etc and it computes a huge list (with pictures) of clothes that will suit you best, made me feel a lot more positive about buying new clothes to replace the maternity clothes I was still wearing ;) ooohh darnit, my mom is soo on me, she tells me every day to get the baby pics done, haha soo i am trying to do it with the little time and finances i have at the moment... yeah a nice swap would have been awesome! you know i will look that site up i actually went to college for fashion design and took some styling courses, styling myself is so much harder than other people. weird how that is. and i didn't buy much maternity clothes either. my husband kept saying dont go splurging on stuff you wil only have for a couple of months, and haha.. you know what the my pants that fit my hips while i was pregnant, do not fit me now.. OF COURSE lol, they totally gray, but i like my hips, they make my waist look smaller especially, yes with my larger chest.. now to get the fat off the hips... lol...

julzandrews I just read what you wrote about your baby weight and wanted to say, I am only just fitting into my pre-preg jeans now, my baby is 9 months old and when he was 6 months I was the same as you, I was embarrassed to go home on vacation because I didn't want my friends to see how fat I had gotten. I'm still breastfeeding and despite feeling a bit lied too re: "breastfeeding makes you lose weight" ;) I am pleased that I have given my body to my baby for this time, as he gains weight, I lose it, fair trade :). I did find that I was eating loads of yoghurt and other dairy products feeling like they were ahealthy snack and when I stopped buying them I did lose some weight (you'd be amazed how much sugar they contain) but I think slowly your appetite returns to normal regardless. Anyway it's not forever and I definitely shed more than a few tears myself so I know how you feel, but honestly, when I see a mummy loving her baby, she is the most beautiful woman in the world to me (I'm a portrait photographer) and I bet your husband feels the same. So keep loving your baby, you will get your body back one day and meanwhile your baby is getting such a wonderful gift. re the tummy wraps, I used one for a few days but it was so uncomfortable I didn't bother. They are a little controversial if you google them with some Dr's saying they are dangerous. you made me feel a lot better, and positive... my sister used to say she felt like her daughters big comfy pillow, and figured, that she was a comfy mama to hug on lol... love her... may i ask how much do you charge for baby photos? also is you ever need a makeup artist i am here, i have only done a few jobs since i have been back, cause at the moment dd wont take a bottle... lol... there is nothin like momma!

I've definitely heard more positive stuff about postpartum belly wraps than negative. I guess the chinese think there's something in it! They've been doing it for 1000's of years. Belly wrapping that is. Not talking about the toe binding. That's just hideous. I guess with all things you should use common sense. Don't buy a tummy wrap that doesn't let you breathe. I think some women buy them too small in the hope it will work miracles over night. It's supposed to be gentle compression. Which many doctors promote and say is excellent for the tummy muscles. I guess it depends on the doctor. I have a wink and I love it. It's great for wearing out with dresses. Sometimes my stomach gets so bloated but the wink flattens me out beautifully. I couldn't wear it all day and evening but I've definitely worn it for a few hours with absolutely no trouble. Will admit it can be a beeatch to get on though. If you've had a c section I'd recommend trying a wrap that doesn't have to be pulled on like the wink. Just to be sure you don't over stretch yourself.

Thanks ladies!! I think Ms Burke has had some surgical assistance ;) @Ilovechoos, did you find that "Wink" gave you VPL under clothes lol ? More importantly do you think it made a difference? Babyandme has gorgeous things, Id never heard of it thanks Gina! Xx If you're worried about VPL, Yummie Tummie do a lovely shapewear thong which is super comfortable. They are also available at Blush and Bloom. The Wink will suck you in a lot more though.

I'm sorry you've been feeling down:( Mummy makeover sounds like an ideal thing to be doing! I'm a HUGE makeup fan...literally at the moment lol, you always feel and look so much brighter when you have you have your hair tidy and your war paint on! You know when you either create a nice feature or disguise a not-so-nice one with makeup well good underware will do that for your body until you have time and energy to diet/exercise, just fake it lol! I rather optimistically got my DH to download "30 Day Shred" for me to try once I'm able after the birth (I'm not a fan of exercise lol) Id be happy to get him to burn it onto disk to pass on to you if you'd like to try it? I'm in Business Bay. There's nothing worse than feeling down on yourself and there's certainly nothing to feel guilty about :) xxx

My DD is 6 month already and i strictly breast feed so i havnt been able to diet yet, sad thing though i have more craving now, then when i was pregnant... it kills, me... the hardest part of having a baby so far for me was the morning sickness and now the body image thing, my stomach used to be so flat and toned. now every thing is bad... I just cant bare to look at myself on some days... i am a makeup artist, so i totally play mommy makeover on my face.. but, sometimes i will get all my makeup on and look at the rest of me and just cry, its like i feel pretty for a moment, then think my face doesnt match the rest of my body, then i feel like my face is ugly too... ugghhh... of course as soon as my baby laughs or smiles even cries i forget about me and jut fall into her loving trap of pure baby loving bliss.. i feel guilty even thinking this way.... almost selfish... the body change is worth it dont get me wrong/ i have broke down too many time recently where i am fed up after this week i have got to to change even if i die of a heat stroke outside hahaha... i will keep beastfeeding though and i have been thinking about those spanx for a while now, i saw them the other day actually, i guess i will invest... untill i can reach my pretty milf goal... whoa.. i totally just vented...

Big hug to you Julz I know that feeling! It's the website Gina recommended but unfortunately not too many 'pretty bits' for Mums, more for bubs. There was some good spanxs style underware which I already got in Saks and used before I became pregnant and they were great for smoothing out any bumps or jiggly bits. Even if your wearing a maxi dress they are great for making you look firmer. I'm due in 4ish weeks and a wee bit worried about my almighty tummy and what will become of it:);)

i tried it, it was just too uncomfortable to wear like 24 hrs 40+ days, but you know they are a cultural thing in different parts of the world, so that must mean they work or people just like to be uncomfortable... brook burk swears by them, she even invented one, if i could have afforded it, i would have got it and followed it to a t.. i mean shes got quite the body, gosh i hate her! lol, j/k
