There are a couple of other things I would recommend doing that aren't directly related to your OB. Firstly, a dental check up - lots of women experience dental issues while pregnant, and because you have to be careful around work you have carried out, I would definitely get checked for any cavities requiring treatment.
Also, personally, I wish I had gone and had a skin check, pregnancy can do funny things with your skin pigmentation and I wish I had completed a mole map. DH has been fussing over a few spots that have changed in the last couple of months, so it would have been good to have had a reference point to start with.

Start charting :D.
I'm sure some posters will be thinking 'here she goes again' ;) but I honestly believe this gives you the best possible chance of conceiving if you're able to. Get her to read Taking Charge of Your Fertility by Toni Weschler and sign up to www.fertilityfriend.com. And buy the digital basal body thermometer with the chart included from Boots :).
Thanks ladies - I just sent her to the DR for a check up and said to talk to her. Im clueless! She is not worried about the insurance but will tell her to check it all the same, good to have someone else pay for it if possible!
yep, what Greenish said, especially in regards to checking maternity cover stand down periods etc, thats a biggie.
she might want to have any vaccines she's missing, check rubella immunity and check for previous toxoplasmosis exposure (so that she doesn't freak out about being around cats)
she also might like to start keeping a record of her periods, and even figure out when in her cycle she usually ovulates to up her chances of conceiving quickly.
Assuming she's healthy and knows her basic gynac history, there's nothing she *needs* to do except to start taking a folic acid supplement. Her GP would be a great starting point to talk about the local system for tests, OB's, hospital choice etc.
It would be advisable for her to thoroughly check her insurance coverage too! Some policies do not cover maternity at all. Some cover only some hospitals. Some don't cover specific tests.
Afternoon ladies, I have a new friend that moved here and only knows me and a few others and her and her DH would like to try for a baby and asked advice about what to do, who to see etc but I dont have kids so I dont know
Should she be going to her GP (she is registered with GMC on beach road) for a check on things before trying for a baby or a specialist? Any advice would be helpful (I am trying to get her on here so she can ask these things herself)
Thanks
