Where can I find a sturdy baby walker of similar quality to what would be sold in the UK. All the brands I have seen here in Mothercare, Babyshop etc are the lightweight plastic kind. I would prefer to buy a new one. Thanks

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will check these out at the various shops - always good to have advice on the tried and tested :)

Plan toys are selling a wooden one, I believe there is a little market stall at the Marina Mall. And if I remember rightly they mentioned something about the speed of the wheel can be adjusted. Not sure how true this is though. I myself got a very sturdy one from Tomy which was bought at the Toystore.

The problem I have more than anything else is that the baby walkers go too fast for the baby, esp as they are on tiled floors and not carpets. Last week we put, don't laugh, bluetack blobs on the wheels of my DS baby walker and now its going like a dream and it never topples over - he loves it !!!! Brilliant, only wish we'd thought of it for my DD ;-)

Hi there, i have to say i had bought 3 different ones for DD1. A v-tech one which was rubbish and would fall out from under her. Another wooden mothercare brand and then i bought one from babyshop and it was the best. DD1 used it for a few weeks and was walking. It worked on using less pressure according to her weight ect which is essential and had the big wheels so it was extremly sturdy. I would highly recommend it.

We got this one in the UK and am fairly sure I've seen them in Toys R Us in Festval City - is wooden and pretty sturdy, I prefered it to some of the others as it didn't seem to tip over and she didn't try to climb on it!! DD has grown out of hers so I know you said you'd prefer new but if you are interested in taking it off our hands then let me know (we may be missing a few of the shapes though but can confirm). http://www.amazon.com/Imaginarium-Wooden-Activity-Walker/dp/B002W5CXXI edited by SL13 on 30/01/2011 just read the reviews on this page which aren't too great....none of those problems described happened with ours but you're welcome to have a look at ours anyway edited by SL13 on 30/01/2011

I received the Vtech First Step Baby Walker as a gift for DD and she loves it. I think it comes from ELC. It is made of plastic but very sturdy. edited by frenchy on 30/01/2011
