You can get the motilium from any pharmacy in Dubai.
How are you doing today Muu?
hi lemondrops, Iam doing very well, guess I was just stressing myself over nothing. Saw her Dr today and she was very impressed with the weight gain, she is 2months today and she weighed 5.3kg. I guess thats how it is when you are a first time mum,you worry about anything.
thanks alot
exactly what lemondrops said, that really full feeling is just at the start when you are actually making too much milk. I am still BF my 9 month old, EBF until 6 1/2 months and now with the additional of solid food and I found that after 12 weeks I only ever felt "full" first thing in the morning and these days I feel completely empty ALL the time. He is already a whopping 10kg and still growing. From talking to other mums this is a really common thing to go through, nobody tells you in advance and everybody freaks out and thinks they don't have enough milk. A lot of people then start supplementing with formula which does cause their supply to actually drop, they will then tell you they "ran out of milk" without realizing that without the formula they would have been fine (assuming they weren't stubbornly sticking to scheduled feeds when baby was hungry sooner).
I always found nappy counting a bit difficult, its easy to get paranoid that a nappy might be "wet" but not wet enough. Just keep an eye on your baby's weight and feed her when she wants. At around 3 months my guy decided he wasn't going to feed for more than 5 minutes at a time, but just fed every 1 1/2 and he chubbed his way up the centiles despite me feeling like he was being starved.
i've been drinking guiness (not sure if u drink) with condensed milk...whioh helped my very slow supply...
afte reading this thread, i will try the coconut milk and brazil nuts too!
how did u get onto the motilium???
Muu, from what you've told me, I doubt very much you're not producing enough for your LO. What you're describing i.e. breasts going soft from feeling full and hard is actually a good thing. It is around this stage (i.e. 6 to 8 weeks post partum) that milk production transitions from being largely hormone driven to supply and demand driven. I.e. you whilst in the past you were producing more than what your LO required, you now produce exactly how much she needs and asks for... no more no less. That is why the feeling of engorgement has largely disappeared. It does not mean that your breasts are empty or that you are not producing enough.
As for her demanding the breast for long periods of time - it is very likely she is going through a growth spurt, thus demanding more milk. The good news is that the faster and more often she empties the breast, the more milk will be produced thus meeting her growing needs. In a few days the growth spurt will taper off and your supply will have increased to meet her growing needs.
Again just track her wet nappies - you should be looking at 4 to 6 wet nappies a day. There are some books that recommend tracking soiled nappies, but I've noticed that this can be unreliable as every baby tends to poop at his/her own rate and some babies tend to slow down when they're going through a growth spurt. But generally the rule of thumb is 1/2 soiled nappies a day.
Hope this helps. x

Muu Big *Hugs*!
First of all relax! I found that stressing about my supply had a counterproductive effect. The minute I learned to relax and accept what ever the situation was, my supply rose back up. In fact, I am now only pumping maximum 3/4 times a day, not taking any Fenugreek/motilium, and I pump more than a litre of EBM a day. For me, learning to relax was key.
So, I have a few questions for you before I can try to be of help. How do you know you don't have enough milk for your LO? Are you pumping or BF? If you're BF, how is your daughter's input in terms of wet and soiled nappies a day? Have you been weighing her regularly and what has been her weight gain so far? Have you seen a lactation consultant to discuss your supply issues? Do you have a pump and if so what kind?
Sorry for all the questions, it's just that if I have a better idea of what's going on I'm hoping I can be of help, and others can chime in to with words of wisdom and support! x
Thanks for the response, Iam breastfeeding throughout. The last time I had her weighed was on the 1st of this month and the weight was good. For the past three days, all she wants to be on the breast long enough, the wet nappies are not as much as before and my breast are too too soft with that feeling like they are so empty. I havent yet seen a lactation consultant but I have an appointment with one on thursday. I have a medela breast pump but I dont use it because she was emptying the breasts well and supply was great

Iam taking fenugreek, motilium and brewer's yeast but they dont seem to work on me anymore, am so going mad and desperate because my DD does not accept formula at all.

LD, I dont post often but I've read every thread about your story with little Jumana....
I had supply issues with DS1- probably because I started pumping in the hospital. The fenugreek you get in Dubai did not help much.
What worked for me was products from motherlove.com
http://www.motherlove.com/category/breastfeeding.html
I would diligently order the more milk plus and goat's rue through amazon shop and ship and drink more milk tea.
It was definately potent and worked withing 48 hours. I have an unopened goats rue and and open but still quite a few capsules in it more milk plus valid till 5/2012 with me right now that I dont use as I fell pregnant with DS2 and fenugreek is contrindicted in pregnancy.I am happy to give the to you to try and see if it helps.
Also you need to eat many good fats. It may not be politiclly correct but following some of the guidelines especially with respect to good fats and protiens have resulted in me having an oversupply of milk this time round and my 9 month old is in the 95th percentile on pretty much my milk.

Just my personal experience and I really understand where your coming from.
I don't post here often either, but I DITTO designbabe's advice on increasing your milk supply esp. about eating well. I wish I had done that.
For supplements do it sooner than later if you can. Good Luck Lemondrops.
Oh, forgot to say - check the pump! The membrane can wear out and may need replacing.
Nope. Unfortunately not that either. My nipples are now sore and cracked from the constant pumping :(

When did you increase the amount of time's you pump? It can take 48ish hours for your supply to adjust to this extra requirement and increase volume.
Could you be getting sick? Illness could decrease supply I'm sure. Perhaps this is the first sign your body is showing of impending illness???
And as for why you?!?! You have been through an increadibly stressful situation - one that continues. This entire journey has been difficult, stressful and traumatic - for you. Everyday you're reminded of the fact that (although this isn't the case, I know I feel it too) that your body failed Jumana, that it wasn't able to support her - your body has been under intense pressure. The fact that you were even able to get your supply going in the first place is impressive! Don't forget that... in the beginning you weren't even sure your milk would come in! AND... there is NOTHING you could have done, in ANY of the circumstances (delivery, milk etc) that could have made for a different or better outcome - you are and have done absoultely EVERYTHING!!! You are a supermum - never doubt yourself on that one, and give yourself the credit you deserve for what an amazing job you've done so far.
I keep reminding myself every day that whatever I'm going through, God/ Allah/ the Powers that Be wouldn't have dealt me anything that I wasn't capable of dealing with, even though some day's I'm at my absolute limit. (((hugs))) xxx
your LO is 3 months? i think it's a phase...
I remember going through tht when DD was 3 months..
It is frustrating at the mo... but i may have read somewhere that the supply depends on how much our LO requires.. it will increase again.. mine did.. :D
cyber hugs!!
S
I must say I am also really surprised this is happening now... I thought that by three months supply would be well established even with pumping. This is so frustrating considering that I know of many people who have managed to exclusively pump for a year if not more... why me?? :(
Oh Lemondrops *hugs*
A couple of thoughts which may or may not be relevant:
- sometimes supply drops *temporarily* round about the time mum has a period - might this be the case? If so, it should rebound.
- any hormonal bc in the picture? Even the mini-pill can *sometimes* cause a drop in supply.
- any other medications? Some decongestants, for example, can cause a drop.
- some ep mums occasionally mimic a "growth-spurt" (aka frequency day), by pumping extra often for a couple of days.
I do so hope that your supply bounds back. Meals is absolutely right, you are absolutely amazing and a real inspiration. I've said it before and I'll say it again; Jumana is one lucky little girl to have you as a mummy, and whatever happens to your milk supply, nothing will change that fact.
xx
:( I don't feel like a wonderful mother tonight... again this is another way in which I feel I've failed Jumana. Unfortunately, none of the things you've mentioned could have caused this. I don't have my period, nor am I on any medication that could be impacting supply. I've already started pumping twice every two hours and so far no improvement in supply. :(
I was really hoping to reach the 6 month mark with DD. She has reflux and I feel due to that, EBM was the best option available to us. :(

Oh LD :( !!! I'm sure I have absolutely nothing to add other than support... I hope your supply picks up. I'm sure you're already doing this... but
Rest, rest, rest... you make more milk when you're resting.
Increase your water intake +++
Relax when you're expressing (to encourage let-down etc)... the more you stress about not enough milk, the more difficult it will be to produce and let-down properly.
What about the breastfeeding tea you can get from the organic supermarket (don't know name... sorry).
I hope you're able to improve your supply - but do know that what you've been able to do for J in the meantime has been nothing short of amazing... you've given her the best possible start to life and you've stopped at nothing to achieve this - I am in awe!
So I've been exclusively pumping for almost the last three months and I was hoping to continue doing so until DD was at least 6 months adjusted, but during the past few days, I've hit a huge stumbling block. My supply has drastically plummeted and I don't seem to be able to do anything to correct it. I'm already on the highest dose possible of motilium, am taking fenugreek, eating oatmeal and am pumping at least 8 to 10 times a day. If this continues, I will have no breastmilk in as little as a few more days. Any last ditch attempts before the inevitable happens??!!
