I had IVF in August. If you have responded well to the drugs and and eggs are growing well, then the egg retrieval will go well. I have a very low ovarian supply and am 41 years old. Only 6 eggs were seen on scan and they managed to retrieve 5. It was totally painless and I was able to see the eggs on the screen and see them transfer them out. The procedure was rather undignified with legs akimbo and pelvis tilted upwards and I giggled when they were washing. Not sure what they told you but I had to remove all hair and wear NO makeup and especially no deo or perfume. Be sure to take the booster shot exactly 36 hours before egg retrieval. You will spend the weekend wondering if the eggs and sperm are fusing and that wait was tough. All 5 created embryos and we transferred on day 5. Where are you having it done?

Hello Zoco. Welcome to the wonderful world of ivf :) I have gone through IVF a few times this year and your feelings are TOTALLY normal. I recall someone telling me it was a rollercoaster of a jounrney and I almost scoffed in their face as thought I'd be fine.....needless to say I wasn't as the emotional impact is massive! These feelings you are having are so normal, your hormones are all over the place and you want this so so badly - it would be a miracle not to feel emotional! In fact I am surprised I have not been sectioned/ended up in the divorce courts on several occasions this year lol! As for the retrieval, I recall being so scared about the procedure and I can PROMISE you you have nothing to worry about. Where are you having your treatment? I have cycled at Conceive and now at Fakih. I have to say that on each of my retrievals (4 in total now as only made it to transfer twice) I have felt nothing at either clinic and although was told to bedrest the same day I felt a little like a fraud. The only uncomfortable bit I found was the canula going in and that takes a split second. PLEASE do not panic about it, I promise you it will be fine and you have to focus on the fact that stress is not welcome at this party! Please let me know if you have ANY other questions and remember you are being pumped with hormones so no wonder the emotions are a little 'rocky'. Sending you lost of poitive vibes and thinking of you. :) Hugs xxx

I dont have personal experience with IVF but as someone on the long complicated TTC journey, just wanted to send you good wishes. As hard as it might be, try to find something relaxing like reading or meeting up with a good friend to take your mind off things and to help pass the time. Hugs and best wishes.
