you can take pram to plane door and then collect this end... from memory you get it as you get off the plane- you have to wait for them to deliver it (10 mins or so)

i flew with virgin to LHR in august- DS was 3 months- pram was fine and not damaged at all. one thing i would warn you of is, they tell you on check in it will come out on carousel, just before i got on the plane they put a tag on my pram and said i can collect it as soon as i get of the plane which is brilliant as i was travelling by myself. Just before we land they announced that all prams will be on the carousel i told them that i was told it would be as we get off but they said it was incorrect, so i got of the plane walked to the carousel- NO PRAM. About 40 minutes later i saw a woman who was on my flight and she had her pram and said mine was delivered to the plane and she only saw her pram because she got off last, i then had to wait for my pram to be delivered to me- in total i was waiting for around 2 hours. Pram was in perfect condition but just make sure they are clear on where it will be, if they put a yellow transit tag on it while your in the departure lounge it means that it will be there when you get off the plane. hope this helps.

I travelled with a buzz, does yours stay shut securely? I had the experience where baggage people accidentally opened it and were then unable to close as they didnt know how, so take something to keep it closed with-a belt etc. also does yours have a bar across the front? Mine was broken so I would take that off. There is no harm asking at plane door if you can have it in the plane not hold, altho unlikely as they are bulky. I was super fortunate on a flight but advised next time bring something smaller. Then when we got to lhr (on ba) we had to get a bus to terminal so I had lo, bags and collapsed pram, I was solo!!

Your pram will come out on the baggage carousel at T3 which is a bit of a pain. I think unless you can wrap it up or buy a travel bag your going to run the risk of it being damaged. However, make sure you check it really carefully for damage before you leave the carousel. Then if there is some damage, even a few bad scratches there is a baggage desk for Virgin at the carousel and they will take care of it. Even take pictures of the pram before the flight. Means you have proof it was in good condition before it went on the plane. What date are you flying on? Are you flying economy, premium or upper class?

I faced the same issue. DD is very comfortable in her stroller and I didnt want to check it in before reaching the plane entrance. At first I thought to buy a cheap travel stroller so I wont have to worry about damage to the elea and can later dispose it. So u can look into this option. I was goin for weeks and just wanted to take the one DD is used to so this is what i did i bought bubble wrap from carrefour and cut it in a sqaure big enuff to wrap the stroller when closed, folded it and put it in the stroller basket below. In addition I kept with it a roll of thick paper tape as you dont need scissors for it. At the entrance of the plane towards the the side they are collevting strollers i wrapped it before giving it in. I saved the same wrap for the return trip :) and did the same while coming back to dxb. No damage done! <em>edited by mks on 12/04/2013</em>

How old will your little one be? I haven't flown to LHR but my general experience with travelling with strollers is that they don't come out on the actual carousel, but rather with the " oversized baggage" so are less likely to be knocked around. If you were organised and early you could maybe take some bubble wrap all the way to the gate with you although you often can't get through security with packing tape even in middle eastern flights!. Also on your flight back you may not be able to take the pram all the way to the gate, I found that in Europe and also it was a giant pain having to fold it down for security checks but it is great to have a pram at the airport, even if you just use it to push around all the masses of **** that you seem to end up taking as carry on once you have kids! I would still take take the baby Bjorn though, otherwise you'll have to carry your baby all the way off the plane, bus etch all the way to baggage claim.
