isn't this a topic raised every few days? :) i know this has been discussed before but now i have really made up my mind to loose 6 kgs by the end of this year. my ds is 5 month old and by his 1 birthday i want to be back in shape. but my problems are-
even after 5 months of delievery whenever i start exercising, the area near my stiches starts painig too much unabling to do any form of exercise. has this happened with anyone? i have been to doctor but she says healing is completely fine. my tummy below navel is still numb! i don't know what to do? i started walking but for 30 minutes only and that too not at faster pace as i take baby along in the stroller. even walking for such a small period gives me pains in legs which keeps me up in the night as my vit D levels are almost nill and i have been taking injections. i used to walk so much :( i am missing that. if i don't take sugar, which i tried for one day, i feel so weak and started feling dizziness. so got all the hormones, haemoglobin and sugar tested everything is normal except for vit D.
big question is how do you loose weight while breastfeeding? i havn't started his solids and won't start for another month. is anybody successfull in loosing weight ?

Correct diet is really the most important thing. Maybe consider joining Good Habits to get you on the right track. Weekly meetings for support and discreet weigh ins, nothing is prohibited, loads of food - especially if you are breast feeding . Make sure you are wearing proper supportive trainers/shoes when you exercise. Consider wearing a belly support over your scar just to give you some support until your muscles and scar are better. where is this Good habits you have mentioned? i do wear post pregnancy belt but it has started giving me pains. probably i'll buy a new one. The web site is: www.goodhabitsuae.com - they are also on Facebook. There are meetings all over Dubai. I liked it because you really can eat anything, but just need to keep track of it and have the correct portions. It is a diet that u could do for life if needed rather one of the fad diets that you can only maintain for 2 weeks. I struggled to eat all the food I was supposed to when I was breast feeding, but the instructor gives lots of helpful tips & you get a booklet explaining everything & they sell their own recipe books.

i gained whopping 28 kgs in my pregnancy!! ice cream, which i never used to eat, potatoes in any form! but after delievery i lost 17 kgs in 9 days.most of my weight was water weight. gained 1-2 kg again. now i have to loose 10 kgs :( i have given myself a year. but i control my food for half day then eat anything. with a high demand baby who does not leave for 5 min i just keep on picking whatever i can to eat. thanks for the advice. i'll see to Laura. BTW which insurance did you have? :) I never touched ice cream (or anything else sweet) before getting pregnant either - unfortunately I still have a sweet tooth now :( Sounds like you're doing really well with the weight loss. The last 10kg is definitely the toughest. As I said I lost a lot, stayed the same weight for ages, then suddenly dropped the last few kgs. Insurance is Allianz through Arab Orient. Saw Plumie's post I have heard lots of good things about Pure Fitness too. Good luck x

I would recommend getting professional advise when exercising and of course a balanced diet. I did a brilliant Post Natal Pilates class with a lady called Laura at Up and Running on Al Wasl Road. She's a physio and specializes in women's health so did a through assessment & knew exactly what I should and shouldn't be doing. It wasn't cheap (I was lucky as my health insurance cover it) but definitely worth knowing I wasn't doing more harm than good. BTW It did take me 12+ months to lose the baby weight - once LO starts crawling it will drop off believe me! i wish i could join somehwhere. i am missing gym too much :( but no babysitter or maid.its just me,dh and ds. as for eating right as all of you suggested i think after 9 months of eating everything it would take that much time to control too :D specially with brestfeeding as an excuse. i used to control my diet before pregnancy and was always in the optimum weight limit. but during pregnancy i charged through food like a bull :) I think Laura does home visits....? It may be worth having an assessment and getting her to teach you a few exercises that are suitable for your at this stage. Good luck and don't push yourself too hard - your body has been through huge changes and you are still breastfeeding. I really believe in the old adage "everything in moderation"! (I did make an exception with the ice cream when pregnant though - went through that by the bucketload :( ) After the initial month after birth I found that I didn't loose a great deal of weight, even though I was exercising and eating well. At around 12 months though I had a large drop in weight - almost like my body was rebalancing.

my situation was similar to yours, I tried to exercise at 6 months but I would feel like something was moving inside. I started to exercise properly at 8 months I think, at 11 months I started circuit training, and now at 12 months had just gone back to my pre-pregnancy weight, I still have a bit of lose skin, but feeling much better. Give it some time....exercise light and eat right.

I didn't have that kind of pain after my c-section at all, (after the first few weeks I had no pain and I never had numbness) sounds like your recovery has been quite slow so I would be careful with the exercise. Maybe you can do lower impact things like walking lengths in the swimming pool and avoid anything that puts strain on your stomach muscles while they heal. You can't expect to lose weight quickly, it took 9 months to go on so it will take at least 9 months to come off. I found it very difficult to lose my pregnancy weight, partly because I didn't really exercise at all (due to laziness no pain) and partly I think because for me breastfeeding slowed my metabolism right down. It took at least a year to get close to my original weight. Your best option is a really good eating plan and light exercise, once your baby gets a bit older you do become more active as you have to chase them around the house and at playgroups etc, and breastfeeding is faster so you spend less time sitting.
