No, we didn't have A/C on 18 all the time! We had the 4 bed atrium villa. We had 1 on up stairs and 1 on downstairs all day during summer and then any extra room we may have been in. At night just the 2 bedrooms we occupied plus our maids room. We had them set on 23. This was the rediculous problem with Dimarco billing. People could be away for a whole month with no a/c usage and get a consumption bill! There seemed to be no reasoning with the billing. Some people had got 0 charge apparantly too although they used their a/c normally. There is another thread on another forum about all the discrepancies with dimarco billing. We live in a little compound of 4 villas now with reasonable charges, really nice neighbours and feel much more a part of the community. Raha had lovely gardens to walk the dogs but it really was not worth the high rents (260,000) plus the chilling costs. There is so much more now to choose from in Khalifa A. We are only paying 180,000 now for this larger villa and we are making a nice garden (lots of big pots to take with us if we ever have to move again!). Funnily enough too, our 11 year old has more kids in this little compound than he had the whole time at Raha. We chose Raha initially for the convenience too. The build quality (and nice bathrooms that I do miss) was pretty good. It was a good way to spend the first year here for us (albeit expensive). There are much better choices out there now I think.

Thanks busybee! Can you lower your Dimarco bills by not running the cold water tap and turning off water heaters? Or is it more just about A/C use, and so you're stuck with it? Hi Your hot/cold water is completely separate from the chilled water, so the only way you can lower your Dimarco bill is by using less a.c. You pay a separate bill to ADDC for tap water and electricity. We pay around AED250 a month for that and max Dimarco was AED1500 last year, which is high compared to other places. But in the winter months our bill to Dimarco was less than AED 200 most months - we even had a AED60 in Feb (and that's because we had visitors who put the bloomin a.c on). I have heard horror stories from people, but they must have every room on 18 24/7 and the doors open!! We balanced the cost up with location, villa, school etc and went for it. So bills depend on what area of Abu Dhabi you live in, not on how much you use??? it depends on where you live. in areas such as aldar built ie raha beach and raha gardens, they are run by Dimarco, which is different to ADDWC. Dimarco is chilled water, where by ADDWC is the normal electric/water. i think that raha now that its become more occupied is not too bad on price.

Bills are the same, the problem is that some places like Al Raha Gardens, they charge extra for AC cooling which is what cost so much.

Hi. If you are looking at Raha Gardens then be prepared for exorbitant chilled water costs for A/C! We were paying around 2,500dhs per month during summer for chilled water. That is in addition to water and electricity charges. We now live in a bigger villa in a compound of just 4 and pay less than 1000dhs for all our power including A/C. I Can't remember how much water costs but not unreasonable I don't think. Do rethink Raha....... it can cost you around 20 - 25000 dhs per year just for chilled water.
