same, same. Why does it need to be repeated? :) edited for my bad grammar :) edited by Saltire on 20/03/2011 I take it to mean http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hear,_hear Quite like it. :) Can't stand [i'>With Regards[/i'>, as it sounds so... Without meaning? By definition, to consider or think of someone or something in a specified way ([i'>to regard[/i'>), should I not need to specify in what way it is being done, exactly?

"Well done you" Have noticed many people saying this, why do they have to "you" when they are clearly speaking to "you"! Irritating.... edited by Pomegranate on 21/03/2011 LOL, agree!

As long as you're saying Mick for Mc, then yes, that's fine ;) I can't say on here what a friend used to call it...

just found this thread roflmao at "britishers" can't wait to tell DH that one! As for "Tell me" I don't really get my panties in a twist when non-native english speakers say something I find odd. Maybe they are translating literally. In Miami, a lot of spanish speakers answer the phone "dime" which means tell me so I can see where this could happen - I am more impressed that others are making the effort to speak english in the first place ;) So glad to read your post ccdoha.....I lived in Japan for a couple of years and was blessed that no one really laughed or rolled their eyes at some of the RIDICULOUS things I was saying! ;)

You ask someone a question, and they start the answer with OBVIOUSLY, blah blah blah etc.... If it was so bl00dy obvious, I wouldn't have asked.

This thread made me laugh because its not just me that gets mad at so many of the random and really annoying phrases that people use... also just reading the entries irritated me again!! Especially these: think outside the box, what friggin box??? Nuff said. How old are you, 15? simples - Arrrgh, this one makes me cringe on a physical level as if someone were scratching a blackboard with their fingernails. Actually any of the new-age 'cool' sayings that very adult people use to sound like they fit it. edited by Dubai-Mum on 21/03/2011

On a slightly different tangent, went to the kids zoo near Yas Island the other week and their signage was dreadful. One huge one inside the park had a big arrow pointing left with the words Goats and Cheep. Another one had "Come and see the rear tigers". There were others but can't remember them. This is a visitors' attraction for g0ds sake..get it right.
