We got back from the UK last night so I expected him to be unsettled, but he's had Calpol and Calprofen (his teeth are coming through and he's got a cold) and he is still wailing even though DH is carrying him around. He's settled a couple of times but as soon as DH puts him back in the cot, he starts screaming again. I've tried feeding him and that doesn't work either.

My nieces and nephew have chicken pox and we've been with them for weeks.

I know nobody can diagnose him but is it likely to just be the teeth and cold thing or more than that? Should I take him to the doctor?

He saw our GP at home when he had a rotten cough and cold and his cousin had just come down with it, and the guy did say 6 months was the ideal age to get it, if there is one!

DH eventually got him to sleep in his arms at 2am then we brought him into bed with us and he slept for a few hours. I guess he must have just been so overtired he was beyond sleep. I took him to Dr Hamzeh this morning as he had a rash all over him, but apparently this is eczema and not chicken pox. We'll have to keep an eye on him for another couple of weeks though. Will keep you posted if it is chicken pox for anyone who wants it! :D Glad he settled, travelling can be hard on little ones. Oh yes please count us in for the chiken pox party. Im not sadistic...well maybe a little hehehehe but heard its best to get it when you are young :) edited by Maid Marion on 05/01/2011

I had the same with DS this morning... he was soooooooooooooooo tired but wouldn't go to sleep and if I would pick him up he'd smile and me and try talking to anything (Including the curtains!) to distract from going to sleep. He was crying on and off for almost an hour before finally the eye lids took over... (just as I made a bottle to try that mind you!) he still asleep (1.5hr later)... wonder if he is cranky from teething and / or the gastro. Hope you get sorted at Dr this morning xox

Aaawww DC - hugs to you and Will :( Might be a good idea to take him to the Dr? Are you with the Pediatrician at The Meadows Clinic, Dr Hamzeh? Took DD there on Monday and we just love him (incl DD)!!! Hope you can sort the little one out! Welcome back! I know it is not the best way to come back home :( x

Has he settled DC? I hope so... it's difficult coming back home from holidays - especially while he's sick. I would suggest if he's still crying to get him checked out for your own piece of mind - won't hurt. BUt as you say, if it is Chicken Pox, the Dr wont be able to diagnose until spots come out :( Hope he's better soon and keep up the calpol and brufen.
