DS will turn 6 months old this week and we will head off for the vaccinations to Al Badaa health centre, behind Shangri La for it. The list of vaccinations doesn't mention the Rota Virus vaccine. Is it compulsary? If the centre doesn't administer this then should we go to some other clinic and demand it?

TIA

Both versions- rotatrix and rotateq( paul offit's patent one) were found to be contaminated with PCV (its a *** virus- wasting disease) and as far as i know, withdrawn in the UAE about 6 months ago.

I did not know that it was optional and took DD for it. She was EBF and stopped pooping regularly after that silly vaccine, sometimes going 10 days without any poops. Was terrible and I wish I hadn't given it to her. It was recalled the same week that it was given to her.

It's actually on very few countries' "must have list" and is debatable both in efficiency and the reasons why it ended up on the US's "Must Have" list... something to do with the chap who held the patent being on the approval board but forgetting to mention the fact that he'd make millions if it got on...

Hi CW, its optional vaccination not given at govt clinics. It is to protect your child against water bourne diseases. Not given on demamd at local govt clinics too. I had given my DD at Unicare which cost aed 400 at 2mths and 4 mths. It is an oral vaccine.
