Would you allow your 3 yr old to go on a holiday with daddy to your mother-in-laws? MIL is always complaning that she doesn't get to see DD enough, so DH wants to take her over for 2 weeks on her own. I am not sure how comfortable DD would be with that. If I ask her, she says yes but she probably doesn't understand what it means. MIL is in her late 70's, can't really do much with DD (or doesn't should I say). She can't feed her/bath her/play with her either, so have to depend on DH to do that. He does it once in a while.
Did any of you allow your LO to go on their own to in-laws? How did they cope? How did you cope? I am worried that i won't be able to sleep without her...but might be a nice break for me too. Would love to hear from mums who did it before.
Edited to say, MIL is in London.

No. I wont. Too young to be away from the primary caretaker and I highly doubt she understands how long two weeks are.
I guess that my question would be - would your husband allow you to take your child away without him for 2 weeks? I'm betting that the answer would be yes. I think that you'll miss her alot and you will just have to realise that things won't be done as you do them, but he loves her and she''ll be fine.
I went back to work when my son was 19 months and he went to nusrery 2 days a week, but his dad had him for three days most weeks. Before that, I took him to loads of groups and all his food was homemade, organic, sugar free. I came home to find him eating crisps, watching a dvd and having had an Aldi curry from a can for lunch, but they actually had a great time, grew a lot closer and my husband did appreciate how hard it could be being at home.
This may well be a one time only offer and if you think that it would give you a break, I would go for it.
DD was 2 and a half last summer when she went to stay with MIL for 8 days with DH.
I missed her loads but DD seemed happy enough with just DH being there. She didn't really take to MIL but I think thats cause granny was trying just a touch too hard with her.
Prior to that DH only really did the nice, fun things with DD.
DH now appreciates its not easy being on your own with DD 24/7!
After reading your post, I really feel like sending her. It would give me a break too. I am alone with 2 LOs on my own coz DH travels a lot. I hope my DH would come away with the same feeling after that.
Well then do it! It also sounds like your DH would like to spend some quality time with his daughter, now that she's that little bit older... especially if he doesn't get much time with her usually. It'll be a good bonding session for both of them... and you'll hardly know yourself, "only" having to deal with 1 child!

DH suggested the same thing because my in-laws were bothering us so much to see her again, and really they spend five minutes entertaining her, while I have to make the trek and ensure she's settled in for 2 weeks and again when she comes back, (she also usually falls sick with the change in weather) its a nightmare and DH said he'd like to do it alone. He was a bit huffy, so I thought, yes I should leave you to it then! And NOT rely on DVDs while he's at it, mind.
Will be interested to see how your DH fares, if you do decide to let her go with him.
My DH is used to looking after her, including supervising mealtimes, toilet breaks, giving her a bath, bedtime routine, taking her to the doctor if she's fallen sick, etc so he's fairly broken in, but he still has no idea at what it actually means to be doing it 24/7 being the primary carer.

well, she's not really on her own if she's with her Dad... and if he's not used to doing all the itty-bitty things you usually do, then he's got a bit of a shock coming! lol! Maybe couch it that way... "are you SURE you want to look after her on your own for 2 whole weeks, dear?!"
My MiL is around about the same age and bless her, now has trouble keeping up with my two... not through want of trying though.
