Bought the latest Kids Time Out and it has a detailed review on this wild-life park in Al-Ain....all sounds fabulous but I'd love to hear from someone who has actually been. Would be great if you could tell us what to expect and what your experience was like.

Went there last weekend with the family and it was GREAT! I don't particularly like zoo's but this one is fine and the animals look well looked after. Loved the African exhibit, the white tigers, etc. We saw a baby monkey tenderly being taken care of by the mom and dad, beautiful! I agree with other comments regarding food..but I wouldn't like to eat at a zoo particularly. They've got a fast food outlet and other stuff. Some kiosks with water, soft drinks, etc. The family loved it and it was great to be out. We got there at about 3.30 and it was a good time, not too hot. It can be a bit of a pain getting to Al Ain with the road works. Good Luck and enjoy before it gets too hot!

We went there last month and had a great time with DS. I agree that the food options are rather limited and also wished we had taken a picnic. I felt a bit sorry for the animals who are alone in their enclosures, especially the gorilla but they all looked well looked after. If you are going to be there at lunch time, find yourself a shady spot and take it easy. It gets very hot and a lot of the animals are resting (cute to see the meerkats asleep though). As for getting there we set the GPS to Al Ain (it didn't have the zoo in) and then followed the advice given by our guidebook to follow the brown signs. Which worked fine for us! Have fun!

I live in Al Ain and go there regularly with DD. We love it. As others have said for a zoo it's not bad although my all time favourite is Sharjah Wildlife Park. Food options are awful though as it's all fast food and snacks so take a picnic if you want something to eat. Since last summer it's become a bit "Disney-fied" so be careful of the souvenir stalls. The staff will hand your kids a soft toy as a sales tactic which is a bit annoying as you then have to hand it back from a sometimes unwilling child which can be a bit frustrating! Loved the zoo part of it. V. exciting to see the big cats. They had so many lovely animals. The food part is very badly organized. Please take something with you or be prepared to sit in a makeshift area to eat fast food. There are NO vegetarian options (or they were finished by the time we got there) Signs to the zoo are few and far between so take a map or your trusty GPS! (We spent quite a while looking for it with an irritable 12 month old in the back!) Avoid going at peak sun times. It is quite hot in the afternoons. Aside from that, DD LOVED looking at the monkeys! They have a lot of them.

As zoos go, it is quite lovely. Most of the animals appear very comfortable and well cared for. The poor sad gorilla nearly broke my heart though. :( Our children LOVED it. We enjoyed the wide, cool-ish open spaces to picnic and the dinosaur exhibit was a big hit with my son.

Went there a few months ago and it was good (I actually hate zoos and had a great day). loads of animals, nice spots to have picnic, small outlets and restaurants open too if you need water or ice cream.

Haven't been recently, but when we did go it was great. There was lots of animals to see, cats, alligators, gazelles etc and even water misters to keep you cool. It was clean and tidy and well done I thought. We were there for a long weekend in the Ramada (if I remember correctly).
