There are also ducks at Dubai Media City lake where they have concerts, Taste of Dubai etc. Not many residents nearby so they would likely be thrilled to be fed! Parking lot opposite Media One hotel.
Hi, WaxMuch, should I bring a red cabbage with me next time I take our dog for a walk round the lake at Meadows 9? How else would I recognize a fellow EW?
If you come into springs 6 right when you enter there's the lake, and there's 6 very friendly ducks you are more than welcome to come and feed.
Just don't lick the spoon!!
There are seven lovely ducks currently residing in the big lake at Meadows 9; six females and a drake with gorgeous green colouring.
They follow me along, paddling madly, as I'm walking the dogs and I'm sure, would love some visitors. I have seen some people feeding them but they always seem to want more ...
If I might make a tiny suggestion though, please don't feed them bread if you have alternatives. It's like bad junk food for ducks and offers very little in the way of nutritional value. At a pinch, you could feed them the really grainy 'health' bread, but there are better foods available.
Grapes, chopped up; peas [defrosted'>; pearl barley, cracked corn, oats, chopped-up lettuce ... all are better for ducks than bread [esp white bread!'>. ;)
Have fun. :)
Isnt it funny how you dont see ducks anywhere else? Its amusing how developers took the effort to home these birds in areas where they knew residents-to-be would enjoy the aviary addition and complete the happy suburban families picture..... :) For the rest of Dubai - plenty of pigeon poo!
problem with our springs ducks is that they are VERY well fed :)
yep..unless you bring them lovingly home baked foccacia with a light smattering of butter, they just aren't interested!

ooh ooh ooh! thanks ladies. this is why i love EW!
Safa Park :)
really? where are the feathery little guys?????????!!!!! at the lake? I've run past there at bootcamp but never really noticed ducks before!
Hi ladies
Don't ask me why, but I've suddenly thought: I'd like to go and feed some ducks! (Not right now, I'm at work, but you see my point)
Is there anywhere we can do this in Dubai? I've recently seen ducks at the side of the road in Satwa eating the grass (where do they live?!) but otherwise have no clue.
Thanks in advance - it used to be one of my favourite ways to pass a grey Sunday Manchester morning!
Kx
