Didn't really see at doctor at FMC becuase it was just a blood test. Went in immediately after my NT scan at City and they'd said the lab tech wasnt available that day. Called the nurse at City and she worked her magic and got them to take the blood anyway. Was a bit worried because the nurse at FMC who finally took the blood was clearly not the person who usually did this. But it worked out ok... hey we've done enough blood tests in this part of the world anyway - and i've had some pretty painful pricks from some incompetent people! The good thing is they are quite quick and you find out your results in a couple of days max which is what you want in these screening situations. The agony of waiting weeks for a hospital to let you know would've probably killed me!
I'm 25 weeks along YJB! Can't wait. Good luck with your scans. I've heard good things about FMC in general. Some friends did their antenatal classes with them as well and were very happy. So thats something to think about for later.
FMC is not the only place you can go for NT scan. I strongly recommend dr George from American Hospital for the 12 week scan and the 20 week scan. He is a fetal specialist with the same training as dr Mirza from FMC and he is amazing. He is actually the nicest doctor I have ever met in my entire life. I had very bad experiences in FMC eventhough I was about to take a whole maternity package over there. I recommended dr George to all my friends and they all love him.
Same here. I've been also to FMC one time and with Dr. George one time too so I can compare. Dr. George is much better. He's very qualified, professional, nice...In fact, he's the best doctor I saw in Dubai during my pregnancy.
I had my 32 week growth scan and 4D scan today at FMC and have also visited this clinic for the 12 week scan and 20 week scan. Have had excellent experiences with both doctors and the nurses/assistants are lovely too.
Both doctors have a pleasant attitude, make you feel relaxed and take time to answer your questions. They are also good at providing you with assurance whenever they are testing anything as you see it on the screen the same time they do.
Wish I had known about the discount though!!!!
YJB... i think it depends on the doctor at City Hospital. I am with Dr Yuliya and had both my NT scan at 12 weeks as well as Anomaly (morphology they call it) scan at 20 weeks at city. For the bloodwork however, i was sent to Fetal Medicine (though i was given a choice the recommendation was clear :D). The results from there were sent directly to the doctor who then did the calculatations and gave me a result. For me, they said the screening tests would be payable seperately, but the 12 week scan wound up being covered (they had said AED 750) while for the 20 week one it was AED 1200 (the lady ahead of me asked for a discount and got a 10% so i pitched in with a request for what it was worth and got it!).
Good luck.

Hi YJB, I am with Dr Elsa at City Hospital and was told by her that she does not do the NT scan and had to go to FMC instead. I had a good experience there, the lady who did the scan was very nice and explained lots of stuff to me which I had never been shown when I was pregnant with my first kid in the UK 3 years ago. Only the doctor who then explained the results of the scan and blood test to me was a bit weird but all in all I had a good impression of FMC.
Same goes for the Anomalie scan at 20 weeks, City does not do it and I have to go to FMC instead.
Good luck with your pregnancy!
