UTI and miserable

It's not about babies and toddlers or pregnancy but mum's seem to understand more, these horrid things us women get so thought I'd have a moan to cheer myself up.

Only been here a few days and have developed a mammoth UTI, (hence why I'm still awake at this hour) I'm prone to them and can usually deal with it but in a new place, with heat and DD out of her usual routine, i just want to curl up and sleep till I'm better! But I can't. It doesn't help that they don't have the anti biotics here that I usually take and stupidly I never thought to stock up before I came.

Guess I'll plod on with the tablets I've never heard of and hope in a couple of days I can smile and enjoy the new adventure that is Dubai!!

:)

I don't know if this is a contributing factor but ALWAYS ALWAYS ALWAYS pee within 10 mins of finishing s3x. edited by Island Girl on 18/05/2011

Grrrr! Am prone to UTI's also but the really ugly hemoragging variety. I wear cotton undies no thongs, take cranberry tablets, avoid sugarry sweets/drinks etc I take the Ural sachets at the first sign but normally have to get Uvamin antibiotic from the docs or if really bad the hospital. Its miserable esp when you have the wee one to look after. Cyber hugs!

Yep Ural is what I was thinking of, they taste awful but really make a difference. My Dr told me years ago to take them if I felt even a niggle and it could help fend one off but they are designed to give relief, get yourself some pronto! I'm guessing you know about always having a wee right after s%x.

The urinary alkiliniser drink sachets (preferably flavoured) are the best thing to soothe the irritation while you wait for the antibiotics to kick in and if you take them early enough can also sometimes apparently prevent things from getting that far. Probably you already know that though if you are prone :( There's one called Ural, green sachets and I think most pharmacists have them. Hope you feel better soon!

Feeling loads better today, thanks ladies for the kind words, weird how it makes you feel better even if its only a few words :)

I totally know what you are going through, I'm also prone to them and got one a few weeks ago at 8 months pregnant. It was horrible and had me not sleeping for a few days until I had to go onto antibiotics to clear it up, they worked really quickly and touch wood have been feeling much better since. I hope you feel better soon.
