Hi Melinda, I didn't have any side effects to the cyclogest thankfully. They are so small to insert, you can hardly feel them go in. As I was using them night and day, I never felt any discomfort.

I'm 3 weeks from giving birth and took them from 5 months to 7 months. I was also a littler nervous about taking them but heaps of people have done the same. I was taking them twice a day so don't worry. I also had to take them from the front passage. A handy tip, the morning one I took and then sat at the computer emailing and doing what I needed to. At night, I took it literally the last thing I did before getting into bed. Reason was becuase it can get quite messy, especially the morning one. If you move around a lot, it can leak out and spoil your pants. Best to sit for at least 30 mins after taking to avoid this. The night one is fine as you will lie down in bed immediately after, just the morning one can be a problem is taking twice daily. Sorry, terrible conversation to have but handy to know!

Thanks ladies - im actually taking them from the ``front'' passage (sorry TMI :) cos im not really sure how to do the other way lol im not pregnant yet - on the 2ww - just read all these side effects about mood swings/acne/weight gain etc....which i dont mind of course if im pregnant, just dont want to have to do this for 2 weeks every month :(

I took it 3 times and the 3rd time was a successful pregnancy so the doctor made me use it until I was 4 months. The easiest way to take it is (sorry for to much information) rectally, cos that way there is no mess at all if you understand what I mean. GOOD LUCK!!!

Hi Melinda I'm taking 400mg twice a day as I'm pregnant through IVF (had to use my remaining frozen embryos before they would be destroyed). Cyclogest is just progesterone (a normal pregnancy hormone) which helps to support the pregnancy in the early stages until the placenta can take over at 12 weeks. I've been taking it for nearly 12 weeks & have no side effects to speak of. Only downside is that the pessaries tend to...um...ooze out of you a bit about 15 mins after taking it, even if you lie down immediately. Not really much to worry about with it, HTH
